Author Kaitlyn O'Connor was first published by Harlequin Enterprises in 1994 under the pen name of Madris Dupree after nearly a decade of 'apprenticeship' --struggling to learn the business, the marketing, and the writing skills necessary for a career in commercial fiction. That 'first' published book, a historical, (which was actually her fourth attempt at a marketable piece of fiction) was successful, however, selling nearly 80,000 copies in the U.S., Switzerland, France, and the U.K.

Writing wasn't actually her first career OR her first love, though, despite a life-long love of books. It was her third career.

Her first career was in the then just emerging computer science field. After studying computer programming, she worked in the computer field from seventeen into her twenties--starting at the data processing center of the college she attended. She worked at the J.C. Penney catalogue distribution center in Atlanta, at the University of South Florida in Tampa, and South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta until she met the future father of her children and married for the second time.

Her second career (and the one dearest to her heart) was in motherhood. She began writing so that she could bring in an income and still stay at home to rear her children. One son, three daughters, 7 grandchildren (and counting), and a gazillion pets later, she now lives in the 'castle' she designed and (partly) built herself (the woodworking, anyway) with her boyfriend, Benjamin, a native, Native American--(they have DNA proof!)-- And her two miniature horses, Napoleon and Stormy. Sadly, Napoleon lost his Josephine, but he's enjoying a new romance with Stormy, a pretty little golden palomino only recently acquired.
Kaitlyn has a wide variety of interests. She writes various genres (or sub-genres since she always writes romance!) under different pen names. She has written science fiction/futuristic/fantasy under several--Kaitlyn O'Connor, in honor of her Scottish grandmother, Lyssa Hart, and Angelique Anjou (for the French ancestry), all combined here now under the single pen name Kaitlyn O'Connor.

with these Cyborg books. Her Cyberevolution series has been really well done, very original and really hot. I've enjoyed the Cyborgs created with an overabundance of biological material which takes them beyond robotic machine to more human and aware as the years go by. So they're not so great with the human feelings, they don't understand subtlety and nuance which makes for some hilarious dialogue, misunderstandings and oh so lovely sex. Heh.

I really loved Cyborg Nation and I liked Rules of Engagement, both of them are in the Cyberevolution Series but this book really disappointed me. The other two books had romance, clumsy attempts at courting, and you can feel the emotions from the characters. But this one, omg, 6 men...isn't that seriously a bit much? I think 3-4 guys is good and more than enough, because then you can get to know each one individually. A woman doesn't need more than 3-4. What is this? Some kind of harem or stable, why not a dozen then? Geez. I feel that in the book, Sebastian, Lucien, and Thor kind of blended together and didn't have much personality and they didn't feel different from the other. I didn't know much about each of them or cared.

Jared, Kane, and Damon would have been enough...but no, the author had to throw in 3 more guys who are just "all about sex" and thinking with a certain organ. And guess what? Those stupid 3 guys, Sebastian, Lucian and Thor had to ask her for an orgy or a foursome because it's kinky. She didn't even want to do it, but they kept asking and she finally agreed. I'd have just walked away or said whatever.

And how can there be alot of romance when there's a sign up sheet for sex and they are on a nightly rotation? That's seriously messed up. And for her to even consider it? My opinion of her kind of went downhill from there, and just because Sebastian, Lucien, and Thor happened to be rescued too and part of the crew now...doesn't make them equal to the other three that she obviously have known alot longer and care about. How can see just make them a part of the family too? Is it that easy to pick up strays? ARghhh!!! I'm frustrated. I was grinding my teeth.

I just feel so cheated with this book.

Please read my review for CYBORG NATION for this book and the other in the series. I recommend that instead of starting with book 1 ABIOGENSIS (which was not nearly the best), that new readers for this series start with this book and then go back to CYBORG NATION and finish the series from there.

So far this is my favorite book out of the series. The premise of the books are that Cyborgs created by man become self aware and can think for themselves. They are sentient beings instead of just machines. This leads to a recall where they will be destroyed as Earth sees them as a threat and danger. Chloe and her late father are deep space salvagers when they found Jared and Kane, two cyborgs near death, on Xeno-12. Chloe nurses them back to health and convinces her dad to keep them on their ship. She sees them initially as her "best buds" and not romantically much to their chagrin. Her adventures begin when there is a recall of Cyborgs and she goes to save Damon a pleasure droid she lost her virginity to at a brothel. Even though the Cyborgs are grown men, they are experiencing their awakening to self awareness and are trying to figure out their new feelings which puts them closer to teenages emotionally as they experience their homone drives. There is a lot of humor in how they deal with jealousy , attraction to Chloe, and of course sex. I'd be nervous in meeting a Cyborg only because of how quickly they formed attachments and attractions to Chloe and they are horny as hell, but they are capable of love and having deep feelings and caring. If you are not interested in reading about six men and Chloe being together this might not be for you. For me Damon, Jared, and Kane would have been enough. Thor, Sebastian, and Lucien seem to be in the story only to unite Damon, Jared, and Kane in their pursuit of Chloe, but I still enjoyed this book.
