Colossal piece of junk,

I never write reviews, but this one is a stinker worth commenting on. First thing out of the box and out from under the slip of paper that says "Guaranteeed Region Free", it rejected a video as out of region. I called the company and was walked through a process to "reset" it. Then the screen went completely blank/dead after about 45 minutes watching the first video. The only good comment I can make is the poor soul who works the phones at Cyberhome is a nice, helpful guy who doesn't try to talk you out of getting your money back. I'm sure he gets lots of practice. Don't waste your time with shipping and returning. Just don't buy it.

The PDVD170 Portable DVD Player CH-LDV 700B All Region Code / Zone Free 110/220 NTSC PAL (1) ] SUCKS! I can not get it to play ANY of my DVDs. Okay, I got it to play 1 lousy photo disk. Big WHOOPEE, I didn't purchase this thing so I could only look at a ONE disk of photos. The DVDs I tried to play on it were a wide range that easily play on my Panasonic DVD-LS5 unit, my Toshiba pc, and my Sanyo VHS/DVD players. I load them and they INSTANTLY play. I tried brand new ones (fresh out of the box). I tried older ones,'homeburned', CDs and copies. NONE of them would play on this piece of garbage. They all work fine on my other electronic devices. According to the manual - Page 19 - I quote: "Close the disc tray and the unit will automatically start playback of the disk." HA! The only disk it played back was a photo disk. I tried 12 different types of DVD, CD and photo disk. The ONLY one that worked was the photo. 1 out of 12 ARE NOT good odds. SO, I re-read the manual. On page 5 (and page 33) it says that this is a region 1 player (That's the ONLY type of media I attempted to use and NONE of it worked.) WHAT? I bought this so I could play everything, from my region one to some imports I had planned on getting. Also, there are no codes in the manual so that you could change it from Region 1 to All Region code/Zone Free. Oh and the DVD kept spinning half the time when the Disk Door was opened. Dangerous! The only bright spot was how quickly I got this junk. I hope they refund me just as quickly. --One VERY dissatisfied customer

The item meets all my needs/wants but one, WORKMENSHIP. When I opened the box containing the player I noticed two (2) screws were loose on the bottom. When I tried to tighten them I discoverd they were stripped. This does not seem to effect any functions and their are six (6) other screws holding it together. I plan on keeping the player as the options (all region and code free) far out-weigh the screw issue.

Item came in defective,

- The LCD screen didn't work- The first DVD I played (hooked up to the TV screen) stopped reading at track 7... - I returned the item to the address writen on the box, it came back because the return address is a different one, so I had to return it a second time (at my expenses of course) - Despite having nothing to do with the fact that the item was defective I only got refunded 2 thirds of the purhase price...

My Cyberhome portable DVD player worked for all of 1 day. It is unable to play DVDs or CDs of any type. Also, if you charge the battery according to manufacturer specs, it will completely drain out within 24 hours.I attempted to get service from Cyberhome to no avail even though product is still under warranty. Their support number is unreachable as is their support email address. Attempts to locate the company via the web were unsuccessful. This would have been a great product at a great price if only it had worked. Purchase at you own risk. Check out the manufacturer web site. You have been warned. |
