I've never written a review before. What prompted me to write one this tie is that I had a hard time making the decision to buy this game based on other reviews that I have read. I really wanted to get RISK for the PS2 but some reviews were calling it too slow and boring, others complained about bugs, and still others praised it for being a great version of the board game. So, here's the thing. I decided to take chance (heck, it's not that expensive for a PS2 game) and pick it up. Guess what? I loved it. I can only imagine that the people who are complaining about it being slow never actually play bored games. If you're playing with a lot of people it sometimes takes a while to get back to your turn. Luckily, in the single player game you get to listen as the various generals comment back and forth about how things are going in the game. It's REALLY fun. I also didn't notice a lot of repetition in the voices which is something you would expect to hear when you play a game like this. So, okay it can take a while to go through a round of turns on the default settings. Guess what though (and this will probably be a surprise to those who think the game is slow) there are a whole bunch of ways to speed up the AIs in the single-player game that makes you burn through turns really quickly. I don't know that I prefer to play this way but if I didn't have a lot of time to play a game I'd definitely want to do this. One of the most important things about any computerized RISK game is the AI. I don't think that I've yet read any comments on this aspect of the game. Let me tell you.. it's good. REAL good. It's handed me my butt on many occasions and I'm GOOD at this game. Bravo! Anyway, if you're thinking about getting the game, don't worry. Risk fans will love it.
