The CP550SL Standby Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is perfect power protection for individuals running a stand-alone PC in their home, or office. It includes PowerPanel PE ¿ Power Management software which monitors the vitals of the UPS and will safely shutdown your system in case of a power outage. Composite integrated circuitry offers advanced lightning protection and also guards against surges, spikes, sags, brownouts and other power abnormalities. This rugged unit is equipped with a RJ11 port which protects against surges from phone or network disruptions. The small footprint design is ideal for horizontally or vertically placement, and is even designed for wall-mountability. The unit is also perfect for protecting other electronics such as monitors, printers, scanners, speakers, fax machines, CD/DVD players, and iPods. * EMI/RFI - Provides shielding against electromagnetic interference & radio frequency signals. I have one of these and it did its job during a power outage yesterday. This UPS is cheap and works perfectly fine but beware the pitfalls of stepped square wave UPS's. During yesterday's particular outage, this unit kicked on to protect a computer system. The system shut down fine but the power adapter for the USB hard drive that was plugged into the UPS overheated trying to operate on the stepped square wave power and failed destroying the USB enclosure and drive in the process.

The important thing here is that this failure was NOT the fault of the UPS. It did exactly what it was supposed to do; however if you are protecting valuable data or critical infrastructure with one of these just remember you can step up to the category of true sine wave UPS's for only about $100. The price difference is well worth it!

After about 8 months my unit failed, I have been ignored twice via e-mails to Cyberpower, and today was just hung-up on twice after tying to reach tech support and warranty departments. The only person I spoke to was during the call for warranty work, and that was an operator to switch me to the department after being on hold for 1-2 minutes, click- goodbye.
The second call to tech support via the phone keypad was disconnected after a message to contact via e-mail.
Beware they do not want to talk to you once you have purchased the item. go with any other UPS provider!

Easy to install UPS unit from Cyberpower, provides surge suppressor function and 20 minutes of electricity for a loaded Pentium 4 PC during power outage, enough to finish up some work and shut the PC down safely.
For unattended PCs the USB link takes care of automated shutdown. SW is easy to install and provides status information in addition to shutdown procedure.
