Hardware issues right off the bat
on March 6, 2013
Caveat: I am a computer professional.
I bought this machine and it had hardware problems right off the bat. Would crash without warning, and instantly power down. Every time I would reboot and enter the BIOS, the system was showing that CPU was overheating.
I called Cyberpower and they agreed to send a new heatsink out. However, two weeks later, when it arrived, the PC's existing heatsink had had the thermal paste melt and run into the CPU. Now I am being told by Cyberpower that the PC must be shipped to them and that they will take at least 7-10 business days to repair it, then ship it back.
During this time they asked me for my Windows logon password. When I inquired as to why they would need my Windows password to resolve a hardware-based issue, they said if I didn't want to provide it, I didn't have to. Why on earth would they ask in the first place then?
Shady support, shady product, avoid if you have any sense, which I clearly lacked when purchasing this $900 lemon.
