5.0 out of 5 stars excellent book with cool high-tech stuff
Tom Clancy's Net Force Cyberspy is an excellent book if you enjoy books with high-tech stuff. With the new technology being developed, computers are being made to allow its user to wear the computer. Net Force explorer David Gray finds a "hole" in the system. The "hole" allows cyber spies to tune into the wearer's thoughts. Reading this book may...

1.0 out of 5 stars Truly terrible - I'd rather watch the movie MYSTERY MEN
And this awful spin-off which Clancy has the audacity to put his name to makes the above movie worthy of Oscars. Don't get me wrong, Tom Clancy, when he actually writes his proper novels is capable of producing a real modern classic(RED STORM RISING). How he can be involved with such garbage such as these NET FORCE spin offs means one thing - alimony! Never mind. Kids...

Net Force explorer David Gray finds a "hole" in the system. The "hole" allows cyber spies to tune into the wearer's thoughts. Reading this book may make you wonder if this could come true, and if it does, watch out. I enjoyed this book very much and I would recommend it to all readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very easy book to read. Keeps you entertained., September 24, 2001
You've finally made it to the big leagues. Your CEO of BigCorp and one of the perks is the latest computer gadget on the market, HardWear, a suitlike vest that gives you the latest in computing power tapped right into your brain.

But something is amiss in the world. It seems that company secrets are being leaked with alarming frequency. And only those companies using HardWear vests are being hit. Is this corporate espionage, or something worse?

This Tom Clancy sponsored book is an easy book to read and kept me entertained throughout. This Net Force book is aimed at the younger reader, although even an adult will find it enjoyable. It revolves around a group of Net Force explorers, kids really, who seem to always stumble into some sort of high tech adventure.

This book is worth the money, buy it today, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book 7 in the Net Force Explorers Series, August 1, 2003
By
At at an NFE (Net Force Explorers) meeting, Captain James Winters warns the teens that big business secrets are being leaked on the Net, and it's most probably that this is the work of a kid hacker. NFE David Gray knows all about young geniuses for now he's working with Luddie MacPherson, creater of the 'wearable computer', HardWeare. But David knows that something is not right in the company because the recent leaks in the Net might orignate from the company HardWeare! David calls in another Net Force Explorer, Leif Anderson, and together try to sort through a tangled web of deceit and secrets. But time is running out as the number of dead bodies begins to grow...

The NFE series are a great Young Adult fiction series, especially those with a love for computers and the Internet. Since the Net presented in the books have no boundaries, you will never know what to expect next. But there IS one thing you can come to expect: stories that have plenty of twists and turns, having the whole plot well balanced with mystery, excitement, and adventure. And sometimes, there's a good romance! The Net Force Explorers include Matt Hunter, Megan O'Malley, Leif Anderson, Andy Moore, Mark Gridley, David Gray, Maj Greene, Caitlin Murray, and P.J. Farris. Occasionally other characters are introduced though they show up rarely.

Definitely "Cyberspy" can be named as of my favorite book in the series since my favorite character, Leif Anderson, is one of the man characters. Leif Anderson comes from a wealthy family so he is constantly teased about being 'a rich kid playboy'. But at the same time, whenever anyone needs some 'information', advice, or a favor, they can always rely on Leif.

"Cyberspy" has a great plot, one of the best I've read. It's a bit more dark and more serious than the other books but still enjoyable. Though most of the books can stand alone, you might want to read beforehand "The Great Race". The main plot of "Cyberspy" relys on some events that had taken place in "The Great Race". And as always with any book dealing with Leif, there is a reference to the first book in the series, "Virtual Vandals". That is because in that book, Leif gets injured on the Net so now he has problems whenever he tries to hook up to the Net.

The series is for Young Adults and I strongly recommend only older kids since at times the computer and Net 'talk' is a bit confusing and hard for younger kids to understand. I can highly recommend the whole series! My favorite part:

Dave gave him an exasperated sigh. "They all have the same respone - 'Information not available'. That's why I figured I'd better talk to you."
"Oho." Leif grinned at his friend's image. "Now the picture becomes clea. You aren't looking for sympathy. You want someone to finagle the information." Now this explains to you what kind of kids the NFE deals with. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! Exciting storyline, pulls you right in., June 9, 2000
From the very end of the first chapter, I was already couldn't stop reading the book. The technology that is used in that period of time I think might even be used in our future. It demonstrates technology that sounds like what we would use in the future. Tom Clancy did an excellent job writing this book. An overall 5 stars!

Don't get me wrong, Tom Clancy, when he actually writes his proper novels is capable of producing a real modern classic(RED STORM RISING). How he can be involved with such garbage such as these NET FORCE spin offs means one thing - alimony! Never mind. Kids buy this junk, Clancy makes money by using his name on the cover. At least POLITIKA had soem good ideas . . .If I was a publisher this would go in the slush pile/rejection bin. Childish, pedantic narrative, a daft plot right out of an episode of STAR TREK, too many references to TV, actors and so on to enhance a character study or action scene. Terrible. How does this get into print? T.C., how can you! I'm holding on for THE BEAR AND THE DRAGON.
