I love this stroller so far. In the lightweight stroller department I have had two Maclaren's (volo & Quest), a Quinny Zapp and a Baby Jogger City Mini. The Cybex Onyx is so far my favorite stroller of all of these. It has a wonderful sunshade (better then the city mini which I didn't think was possible), a great recline, it handles very well on smoother surfaces, it is very maneuverable, I personally love the umbrella fold with a carry strap and I find the folding mechanism very easy. The storage is limited as with any umbrella style stroller but that is my only complaint. I think it is an awesome stroller, I'm very pleased with it. I'm always on the lookout for the perfect stroller (I have owned over 10 different ones) and this one comes pretty close.

After much research, I purchased this stroller for our trip to Rome. It was a great investment! It did not get damaged during gate check despite not being in a bag. We used it for several miles a day for 8 days and it handled cobblestone, pebble/gravel, pot holes and everything we put it through (Was a breeze seeing the Roman Forum!). We had a bit of rain and a lot of sun and the sunshade protected our daughter nearly entirely. (We used our Rain or Shine Kids Woobee blanket to cover her legs/feet during heavy rain.) We're now back home and the only difference between now and out of the box is it is a little dusty.

If you need an umbrella stroller that will take a lot of beatings this is it! It's much pricier than others, but you get what you pay for.

I never submit reviews, but wanted to write so others could find this stroller. We purchased this stroller for our 3rd (and final)baby. We have been through many strollers and this is by far the best purchase. The best feature is the sun-shade, it covers the entire child and can be adjusted for height and has a zip out portion for expansion which makes it very streamline. I researched for months and all the other brands require you to purchase an attachment to get this level of coverage for this range of age/weight, which I consider essential. Our baby has loved the stroller from 3 months to her now 14 months and literally begs to get in it. It's easy to open and close- a little heavier than a regular umbrella stroller, but also much sturdier. When it arrived there was a broken piece on the brake. We contacted the company and they arranged for us to pick up a new stroller from a local store and had the store send back the defective one. Great customer service and a fantastic stroller worth every penny... we won't have to buy another stroller again.

We started out with an Uppababy Vista stroller (my 6'6" husband's preferred stroller), which is awesome, but in the end I wanted something a little more lightweight and compact to keep in my trunk and travel with. I spent a lot of time doing research on YouTube, Amazon, blogs, etc. My criteria was as follows:

1. Lightweight and compact with a one-hand fold
2. Deep recline option
3. Very large sunshade

Cybex delivers on all three measures. It is not a heavy stroller, and I can throw it over my shoulder with the shoulder strap when I need to. The sunshade is insanely large, and you can lower it such that your child is basically in a Cybex cocoon. It can easily be adjusted up for the tallest kids or removed entirely. The near-flat recline makes for easy diaper changes and naps while out and about. I also really like how you can detach the fabric from the sides of the seat and the back to increase air flow in hot environments. An unusual but much appreciated feature.

There are a few cons, but for me they are easy to overlook because they are true for all umbrella strollers -- the basket is small and inaccessible when the seat is reclined, and the two handles makes it difficult to steer one-handed, especially over rough terrain. Sometimes the brake is a little tough to disengage. There are basically no Cybex accessories that you can buy, but we've used accessories of other brands with no problems (the Sunshine Kids parent organizer, a snack tray, the Britax stroller bag).

Customer service has been awesome too.

Well, I have had this stroller for about a year now. When my baby was younger I used it with the adapter pieces to allow for the infant carrier to click in. Putting the adapter on the stroller was easy, but once they were on I found it difficult to get the car seat properly clicked in. The movement to remove the car seat from the stroller is awkward at best, and when lifting the carrier up the stroller would tip over backwards almost every time. It was also very difficult to fold the stroller with the adapters on. I would step on the lever, lift the second lever, then bend down and push the wing like adapters out of the way before closing and locking the stroller. Even without the adapters on the stroller is hard to fold down. The side fabric flaps out and blocks the locking mechanism from clicking down, so you have to bend down, move the fabric and then push the stroller closed. Needless to say, I was happy when my baby was old enough to sit in the stroller by herself. It was then that I realized that the 5 point harness straps are not able to adjust down far enough to fit across her body. She was about 8 months old when I started putting her straight into the stroller, even at 14 months the straps are still not tight across the shoulders and waist. I would also like to point out that when the stroller is folded down the front wheels brush against the canopy leaving the whole inside all dirty. I tried to clean it but the fabric is such it does not allow for wiping down very easily. The basket cannot be accessed if the adapter/car seat is being used since the seat has to be in the full declined position for the car seat to attach. The handles are wrapped in foam, which is a nice feature, however, one small tear in the foam and it continues to open up.Read more ›
