4.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea!
I have owned a Cybiko for about 2 weeks now, and I really love it. The games and apps are great, but there isn't much memory to hold a large amount. This device is a great alternative to Gameboy, all the games are free to download. My only problem with it, is its small range. For a product geared towards chatting purposes, a 300 foot range is not enough. I would rather...

1.0 out of 5 stars The Cybikos That Never Worked
I purchased two Cybikos. They turned on, we plugged them in to charge, and that was it; they were unable to use. The message on both was low battery. I've called the 800 number three times, each time leaving a message. I have never heard back!! I went to a couple of stores to see if the battery was replacable, not one store carried the particular battery. If this...

I would rather just go up 2 that person and speak. But for large groups, the chat feature can be a lot of fun. If you're going to get one , I would reccomend that you encourage friends to get one too because its much more fun with multiple Cybikos.

I got this Cybiko for my birthday, and immidiatly I loved it. Then, I began to settle down. I love the games, and I love the fact that every day I can download new games from their website. The only thing is, I know no one else in my area with one. None of my friends do, either. This makes it immpossible to use the Cybiko to its full potential. You need to know somebody else nearby you to be able to chat and to e-mail without hooking up to a computer, you need somebody else with a Cybiko. So, get one if you know other people who have one or is getting one, or get one if you really like lots of free games that are deleatable and downloadable, but if you only like the factor that you can chat with buddies, but none of your buddies have one or are thinking about it, think for a while before you get it. Well, I hope this was helpful. Bye! -Michelle

The Cybiko is very cool. I recently got it for the holidays. When you are getting started it is a little hard to download games but after a day or two it becomes easier. Eventhough you can only go up to 300 feet away to chat my nextdoor neighbor has one so we can chat from our houses and some friends of mine have them so we can do a big chat. I reccomend it to you if people have it around you. Some of the games are very bad but you can just download the good ones. I reccomend it to about everyone who likes to chat and loves to play games. :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Bargain price for a slightly outdated gadget, August 1, 2004
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

I got a couple of these as gifts and tested them right out of the box. As others have mentioned none of them would work without the charger plugged in. However removing the batteries and cleaning the terminals usually worked. I was able to massage two of the three cybikos to life this way, with battery life averaging 4-5 hours. With the third cybiko the batteries were so severely corroded that cleaning had no effect whatsoever.

The Cybiko itself is slightly outdated but for the low price of $10 you can't go wrong. Cybiko's website is still running and there are a ton of games to download for those who willing to find them. Its also very durable and can stand up to quite a bit of bashing. However, there is no doubt it is a "toy" and will never replace a palm in terms of funcitonality. For the geek-minded you can download a full-fledged SDK to write your own progs, but don't expect to find a burgeoning community of developers.

So it originally sells for $99. It's on sale for $9.99. What do I have to lose? I bought 2 of them. Let me say that they are the COOLEST things I have ever seen! I have had NO problems whatsoever with them and the website that you can download from IS indeed still alive and well at http://www.cybiko.com/index_uk.asp

I had no problems getting those units set up with the games my kids wanted and they are having a blast with them. (They are ages 9 and 8) So for the naysayers I say either get a new one or get over it. They work just fine! Get one! You'll love it!

In the meantime, don't waste your time or money!!

How can anyone type on that impossibly small keyboard with the unusual layout? Apparently nobody can and that's why they have to include a stylus for you to press the keys with! Okay, so you want this to download your e-mail? Well you've gotta connect the hard drive in order to do that. In addition, games are impossible to find for this thing.

This is a very neat concept, but not quite ready for prime-time. Seriously...think twice and then hold off. I'm sure there will be something similar but a million times better in just a few months. This just isn't worth it right now.

It has a high-frequency radio connection, no cables, no line-of-sight. It's not just a multiplayer game platform, it also has planners, calendars, and phonebooks to manage your social life.

I got it for the clearence price and it's the best toy ever. I can download tons of games. Those other people wrote bad reviews because they can't get their computer to work. The batteries aren't the problem. How to fix them:
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Take the batteries out.
3. Clean it out.
4. Put the batteries back in.
5. Put the cover back on.

Now charge your cybiko and enjoy it. Remember, DON'T DROP YOUR CYBIKO. It will mess it up again.

I ordered 2 of these and both would not take a charge. I looked at the batteries and they had leaked. This had ruined the units because of the corrosion. I returned the units for a refund.
