5.0 out of 5 stars This is a classic!
This book has always been one of my favorites since childhood - and I still find myself rereading it occasionally when I have a spare half-hour! 3.0 out of 5 stars Two guys and a girl
This book was easy to read. This book is so typical in the life of a fith grader. The plot is two boys like the same girl and the main character,in this case Simon, always gets the girl. It was love at first sight for Simon. He had to work hard to get her. He lost his B.F. (best friend) in the process.

This book has always been one of my favorites since childhood - and I still find myself rereading it occasionally when I have a spare half-hour! I don't know if the illustrations have been redone, but the pencils in the original printing were beautiful, and they really captured the different emotional tones of the book. True, it's a simple plot (two boys fight over girl), but the way Simon deals with his father's abandonment and the complexity of Tony's personality (sometimes cruel, sometimes sweet) is very mature. BCB doesn't patronize her readers; the intensity of emotions that Simon feels concerning "trivial" ten-year-old matters (his best friend's lying is The Absolute Betrayal) is the best representation of childhood you'll find in such a brief book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cybil War Review, January 10, 2003
A Kid's Review
This story is about Simon and Tony fighting over a girl named Cybil. The main characters are Cybil, Tony, and Simon. The story takes place in Simon's home town in present day. Simon and Tony are best friends. Simon has been in love with a girl named Cybil for 3 years. Then Tony decides he loves Cybil so Tony tries to get Cybil to hate Simon. Simon finds this out and prevents her from hating him. Read this book to see who gets Cybil.
I think this story is funny when Tony said his grandma told him his brother`s small shoes were magic shoes. It was also funny when Tony said Simon had to go out with a fat girl named Harriet Haywood. It is also funny when Simon was bragging that he won the war for Cybil. That's why this book is funny.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Cybil War Review, January 10, 2003
A Kid's Review
The Cybil War was a great book which took place in a modern day town. It was about a girl named Cybil and two best friends named Simon and Tony who liked her.

This story was about Simon and Tony who both love Cybil. When Simon hears that Tony told Cybil Simon said she has popsicle legs, he is furious. That is how they start the Cybil War.

I found this book really funny and I became curious as I read. For example when Simon and Tony both liked Cybil I became curious to read what would happen next. I found it funny when Tony told Cybil that Simon said she had popsicle legs. This book was a book you would want to read.

3.0 out of 5 stars I Liked It, April 16, 2000

The Cybil War is a pretty predictable book. You know by the first 40 to 60 pages what is going to happen. But still, I liked it. One of my friends read it and said it was really, really boring. I read it anyway. I'm glad I did because it was pretty good. The characters are a girl named Cybil, a boy named Tony, and another boy named Simon. Tony always lies and takes advantage of Simon. Both Simon and Tony have a mad crush on Cybil. I didn't really think the characters were believeable. I thought that they were too perfect. Even though I felt this way about the characters, I still liked the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Cybil War Review, January 10, 2003

In The Cybil War Tony and Simon are fighting over Cybil. The story takes place in their home town in modern days.
In The Cybil War two guys , Tony and Simon, fight over a pretty girl called Cybil . Their war travels between places. Simon doesn't realize that Cybil hates Tony but likes him. In the end Simon wins The Cybil War.
I really enjoyed reading this book because the characters are great and it had a very detailed beginning middle and ending. I thought that a lot of the scenes were funny like the pet show. I thought some of Tony lies were mean but some of the others were funny. I hope I can read more great books like The Cybil War.

It is about two best freinds named Toni and Simon who both like a girl named Cybil.Tony tries to get Simon out of the way but Simon not easily fooled. They are both neck to neck with each other then....well, you have to read it yourself. The reason why I call this a book with real situations is because I have heard way too many stories like this.
