This game is probably one of the most obscure titles on Sega. The story begins when your spaceship is caught in a meteor shower and crashes on an nearby planet. The brains of the crew members are taken away to the nearby and very secret lab of the Cydrek Federation, soon to be your enemy, and placed into robotic bodies. It is essentially a side scrolling sci-fi shotter in which you design your own fighting robot and proceed to bash, smash, and shred your way through four major sections each with four stages, making your way to the final battle and justice. The design portion of the game is fairly simple and consists of choosing a body, a pair of legs and a weapon. That said this was one of me and my freinds favorite Sega titles and I think anyone who likes brawler games or is a fan of the science fiction genre will enjoy it very much.

Cyborg Justice is one of my favorite games on the genesis. While not quite as large as some other games, the gameplay is extremely fun. While you start out by designing your cyborg picking through a few different parts, you can change its body later by ripping parts off of your still living enemies and attaching them to yourself. Great funn ripping off a boss's arm and then trying to rip off his torso (killing him), only to have him rip off your arm instead.

I'll start off saying that everybody, literally everybody, I know who's played this game loves it. I can see why it'd have a cult following to it. I'm not quite that sold on it, but there is a lot to like here.

The story is pretty basic. Your ship crashes on a planet of cyborgs who make use of your remains to create a new citizen. Unfortunately for them, something goes wrong and you regain your self-awareness. You then proceed to go after the central brain leader of the planet for revenge.

The first really cool thing was that you could customize your guy. You could mix and match bodies (nothing useful), your legs (various powers), and one of your arms (primary weapon). Even cooler was that during the course of the game you could rip the arm off of an enemy and either drop it, throw it at him, or put it on yourself. Very cool. You could (and I have) start out with the generic guy and manage to rip a saw blade off of a guy, put it on myself, cut off his other arm (just for fun), rip his body from his legs, throw it away, and replace my legs with his. Again, VERY COOL!

The things that detract a bit for me are sometimes iffy hit detection and cumbersome controls to perform actions, due mainly to the Genesis' limited 3 buttons at the time. If this had come out in the era of 6 button controllers, I think the moves would have been much easier to perform. There were also a few one shot deaths in 2 levels where you could fall down a chasm and die if you didn't time the special kick jump correctly, though if you used the super jump legs it was a lot less likely.

Generally, I would fight the guys, always one (maybe two? it's been a while) at a time and steal the laser off the first or second level boss and use that. Then not use the primary weapon at all, instead use the leech jump and/or ripping off the torso and absorbing it to kill the enemies and regain health myself. Then it was an easy matter to use the laser arm to kill end bosses up until about the last guy. Ah, good memories.
