It is the mouse.

I saw the latest Cyborg R.A.T. 9 mouse, but I was like "Paying $150 for a mouse is stupid."
Then I thought "What does their least expensive model look like?" I bought it because it looks cool, but it works even better than it looks. First off it is a very high quality piece of kit. The construction reminds me of my RC10T radio controlled racing truck. An aluminum frame with RIM parts. The braided cord is long, flexible and looks tough. Although it looks chunky the ergonomics are excellent (I have a Masters in ergonomics). I like that one can adjust the up-down and left-right sensitivity separately. The wheel rolls nicely with little detents that make changing weapons in games much more positive. One bump and you have the next gun, no more back and forth until you land on the one you wanted. Adjusting the dpi of the mouse on the fly is very useful. I set it to 2400 dpi (800,1200,2400,3600) and slow down the mouse response slider in Windows and games. It is highly responsive without being twitchy. I can check doorways and corners in Call of Duty really quickly. If you like, one can speed up the response for running around and slow it down for aiming. I don't bother to do that. Where I find it really useful is in PhotoShop. When I want to do fine detail I lower the mouse dpi with the toggle switch behind the wheel. I especially like the thumb-rest 'wing' on the left side. It keeps your thumb from dragging on the mouse pad. The position of the two thumb buttons is perfect. I don't really find the programmable button useful. I would always start a game in Windows mode and find things were not working properly, so I set it to default and forget it. If you play a game with lots of inputs you may have a use for that feature.

The mouse still works great. NEVER broken down on me yet. One of the concerns about mad katz products are reliability, and I am very surprised how well the mouse performs.

I just got the cyborg rat 3 gaming mouse its a great mouse even the the drivers wont install correctly but that's just because of my computer.Even though it says no adjustable parts u unscrew the pinkie rest and then unscrew the one screw behind it and when you find the right length screw the screws back in place.

I don't know about most mouses, but this one isn't very well made it appears. The middle mouse button broke a year in- a known issue with this model. Otherwise the mouse 'works'. One note: I don't like how, if you use the preset configurations in the driver software, you have to launch it and activate it every time you open windows. An OK mouse for the price, but maybe I was expecting too much?

This mouse wasn't bad. It was almost big enough for my large hand, it was almost as heavy as I like my mice, for that it would have had 4 stars. But the right mouse button failed in just under 3 months. I don't game nearly as much as i used to, so it seemed bizarre to me that it would fail so soon. I have used mice from a second-hand store that have lasted much longer than this.

Sadly madcatz' quality (or lack thereof) shows through on what would have been a good mouse.

I purchased 2 of these interesting looking mice.
1. Not only was the software very limiting (cannot change polling rate, random resets on dpi, profiles dont save properly)
2. Both mice broke within 5 months with the same problem, a faulty left click resulting in double/triple/quadruple clicks when clicked only once.

I decided to contact customer support to get a replacement for one of them and left a ticket/email with MadCatz/cyborg.
I waited 1 month patiently giving them the benefit of the doubt that they were very busy. *laughs*
But in the end there was NO RESPONSE from customer support. I had to dig around on their disorganized website only to find a phone number for their EU office and had PERSONALLY CALL to them to respond to my NA based ticket, which of course they had no idea there was such a ticket.

In the end I was left extremely dissatisfied and with a couple of broken mice.
The name is actually quite fitting. i paid 50 bucks for a RAT and had to good on a RAT chase to get any kind of support.

A bit of a weird design, but surprisingly comfortable. The buttons are well placed, and the weight is fine. The optical sensor is accurate enough for gaming. After a year of use, however, the optical sensor stopped working altogether, so it became useless. Rather disappointed as I still have mice from the 90s and 00s that still work perfectly fine. This is the cheapest R.A.T. 3 though, so I guess I can't be too mad. If it has lasted longer, I probably would have giving this 5 stars.
