Product Description

This pro-quality, versatile stand has a rock-solid base. When deciding on which product to carry we analyzed many factors, cost, stability, quality, etc.. After talking to multiple riders, repairmen, and bike distributors, we elected to go with the slightly more expensive, but more robust, Stand. The rigid design allows a secure base for awkward cycles and offers extreme portability. In our opinion these are much more robust and versatile than the inferior knock off versions you regularly see on the market.

The pieces just don't fit together.

The stand would probably be 'self supported' ok but would advise to anchor to wall.

What i did was just the usual load up my two bikes on both racks.

this item is advertised as being freestanding but unless it is mounted to the wall it doesn't work. it assembled quite easily, but once assembled as soon as i tried to put a bike on it, i tipped forwatds and would notsupport the weight of one bike much less two. on the box it says that it has padding to protect bikes and floor, but there was none. for those of you who would like to know the assembled size is approx 21x29x86.5"

I bought this rack precisely due to the fact that I don't have a wall to which I can attach a bike holder. This bike stand is only freestanding until you try to place a bike on it. IT ABSOLUTELY MUST BE ATTACHED TO A WALL!

PROS

1. Easy installation. No tools needed. A hammer may be useful in joining the two metal uprights together.

2. Adjustable/ movable arm handles to accommodate various bike shapes and sizes.

3. Stable. I recommend drilling the screw provided onto a wall stud for added security and minimize shaking when loading and unloading bikes from the rack.

CONS

!. The bike hooks that holds the bike should have rubber pads on it to prevent the bikes from being scratched. An easy alternative is to line the hooks with a thin piece of cushioning material.

The bike storage stand is good for the money. The advertising says that you do not need to anchor it to the wall and that is true. How ever the rack can easily become unstable when you storing your bikes and tip over. This has happened on several occassions. After several weeks we have become better at loading the bikes. It does come with a srew that you can use to anchor to the wall but this isnt advisable if you live in an apt. since it would leave a huge hole in the wall. I used it and pulled out. The hooks that hold the bike can easily pop out of the end tubes if you dont lift your bike high enough before removing. Also if you have bar ends on your mountain bike expect them to get caught by the wheels of the top bike. After all is said and done for $39.95. Its a good buy. The more expensive ones dont look any better buildt.

I tried this product since I have read the reviews and its description that it can stand by itself. After receiving my order I found out that it was not true that is can stand by itself. What i did was just the usual load up my two bikes on both racks. As soon as you load one it will tilt forward and will be unbalance itself. They actually supply you with wall screws, probably just in case this things happens. But for my case that is unacceptable plus it is false advertising. Good thing i got reimbursed.

This was by far one of the worst purchases I have made on Amazon. To start off when I received the stand it looked as if someone else had already found out what I was about to find out, that this stand is horrible. It was scratched and beat up. Ok, beat up is a little too strong, but someone had definitely put it together and taken it apart and sent it back (scratching it all up in the process.) The paint does scratch very easily as I found out by adding a scratch or two myself during my attempted construction. The pieces just don't fit together. I had to almost break out the hammer to get this thing together. When I finally got it together I assumed i had put it together backwards because it was extremely unstable. And there seemed to be not good way to stabilize it, besides putting two 80lb concrete bags at the base. I know it wasn't expensive but I still wouldn't pay five bucks for this thing. Try something else, ANYTHING else.......PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ordered this bike stand for my son for Christmas. The packaging was fine, but when they opened the box, several parts were scratched and bent. In addition, this is supposed to be free standing, but they would have had to bolt to their apartment wall as it was very tippy. My son decided to send it back and packaged it up, following all the directions. When he received the Amazon credit, it was short $20 because it was not packaged in the outside box that it came in. This was very disappointing - first he has to return a gift and second he gets stuck for $20. Not happy. You guys need to figure out how to keep this item from tipping and how to package so it arrives undamaged!
