This is the debuit of japanese band lost eden. it is very good. yes they have simularities of soilwork and in flames. they could defidently be more original, and that is one of the reasons they get 4 starts and not 5. and the songs could be stronger at times, but hey this is their debuit and a pretty damn good one. if you like quality melodic death metal than this is for you. i look folward to seeing how this band matures with its future releases.

Lost Eden ~Cycle Repeats~,

Is it just me or has the melodic death metal scene become just as oversaturated with copy cats as the metalcore scene? The problem with bands like that is that they're actually talented and sometimes even write strong songs... they're just not adding anything new to the genre.
Let's add Lost Eden to that list. Lost Eden is an amalgamation of the three bands listed on the back of their promo: In Flames, Soilwork, and Trivium. If you like those three bands and would like to hear more of hat style, please purchase this. If you're tired of those three bands, take a pass. With a screamer that sounds like Stride and riffs that blend into a Trivium/Soilwork mix, the only thing missing are the In Flames leads. Yes, they're here as well. The electronic parts are interesting but nothing new. The riffs are strong but again, nothing new. The clean vocals are decent and actually remind me of Vintersorg a little which could be good or bad depending on your feelings on his affected vocals. I would proceed with caution in buying this one. For Fans of: In Flames, Soilwork, Trivium |
