Fun while it lasts,
This review is from: Cycles (Audio CD)
I like Cartel a lot, however I am prone to listening to their releases over and over for a few days and then burning out. I like Cycles but maybe it has something to do with the vocals being a bit too familiar across the past 3 albums. Standout tracks for me are Deep South, 27 Steps and Conventional Friend. But in general, I can play through the whole thing several times in a row, no problem.

Cartel has really pulled their act together with this new album. The songs are leaning more towards a mainstream vibe yet still captures a crisp, clean alternative rock sound that is favored from them. As I listen to Cycles more, I fall in love with them all over again. If you haven't bought this CD yet, you are missing out!!

Cartel Cycles Review,
This review is from: Cycles (Audio CD)
Now Cartel is a band that I only recently discovered, and the first album I heard from them was their second one, the self-titled one. Now, several people gave it flack, and I partially agree with them, though I actually liked a few songs from it. Then I heard Chroma, and I was completely blown away. I didn't think that they could get any better, but they did. Cycles is phenomenal, with tracks such as "Faster Ride" and "It Still Remains". I have no complaints about any of the songs on the album, go pick it up.

This record is truly amazing. After releasing their self titled I think fans were questioning which direction Cartel would go with their third record. I think new or old fans will love this record. Cartel knows how to write the catchiest pop/rock songs. My favorites are definitely Deep South, Conventional Friend, Retrograde and 27 steps.

Cycles is definitely an amazing album. Will Pugh's vocals on all the songs make you want to scream for joy and sing along. Guitarists Joseph Pepper and Nic Hudson deliver their best on each song. The same can be said for drummer Kevin Sanders who's drumming never disappoints. Bassist Jeff Lett make songs like Retrograde one of my favorites. The only thing better than hearing this album is hearing Cartel play it live.

The cd is in very good condition. Every song played perfectly, there were no scratches or marks. The case and booklet were in excellent shape. It was like buying a new cd.
As for the music itself, I enjoy the band and every song on the album. The songs are catchy, interesting, and the lyrics are great. I listen to it almost everyday or every other day and it hasn't gotten old yet.

Cartel is Back,
This review is from: Cycles (Audio CD)
I'm not going to lie to you. If you're not this style of music. But what Cartel can do is appeal to a larger crowd than most. They've been attached to emo, but there's still legitimate rock riffs in their music. They come from an independent label but still can connect to a larger audience. They've only cemented their sound in this release, and if you want to hear a band more comfortable in their groove, give Cartel a try.
