What reviewers say about Jake Bernstein’s other books on profitable investing… The Handbook of Commodity Cycles A Window on Time "If there’s a secret to the market, I believe it can be found in these pages…In my judgment, this is the most important addition to commodity literature in recent years. It is destined to become a classic." —Fred Colton, Commodity Outlook The Investor’s Quotient The Psychology of Successful Investing in Commodities and Stocks "This book is a welcome breath of fresh air in what has been a too-long avoided subject—the psychological reasons why some people win and most others lose in the commodity market. More than that, Jake Bernstein proves in this book he is an excellent teacher, and clearly and candidly shows how greater knowledge of yourself can become your most effective trading tool. It’s a must for every trader’s library." —Leon Rose, Publisher Futures Industry Newsletter and Managed Account Reports Beyond the Investor’s Quotient The Psychology of Successful Investing in Commodities and Stocks "Jake Bernstein is one of the best at putting together the emotions and mechanics of trading…a must for all traders." —Futures Magazine

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Beginning in the mid '70s and continuing through the early '80s, cyclic and seasonal analysis achieved great popularity among futures traders. Many past concepts have since been abandoned in favor of systems created by advanced programming and research. Yet today's techniques are often sophisticated versions of yesterday's methods. Reflecting the newest concepts and indicators in futures trading, this book provides an in-depth analysis of price cycles and repetitive patterns in the futures market. It provides timing tools for determining when prices have established cyclic lows and highs and reports on the current status and character of patterns in futures and cash market data. In addition, it examines the current reliability of historically established cyclical periods (i.e., 5.7-year cycles, 28-day cycles, and 9-to-11-month cycles) as well as new findings based on established data and activity in recently active markets. Also explored are new areas of cyclical research arising from advanced computer technology. Throughout, clear examples of all concepts are provided, while mathematical derivations have been kept to a minimum.

From the Inside Flap

Jake Bernstein is one of today’s leading practitioners of cyclic trading. The author of The Handbook of Commodity Cycles, How to Profit from Seasonal Commodity Spreads, Beyond the Investor’s Quotient and other trading guides, Bernstein has helped futures traders the world over learn and implement the basic principles and techniques of cyclic analysis for short- and long-term trading. Now, Bernstein draws on his prodigious expertise to provide you with invaluable insights on how to fuse your own preferred methods of price analysis with his most up-to-date procedures of cyclic analysis in futures trading. Cyclic Analysis in Futures Trading: Contemporary Methods and Procedures gives you many of the tips, techniques, and tactics you need to develop effective strategies for profiting from cycles in futures markets of all types. Bernstein provides his latest research on cyclic analysis—concepts, indicators and updated techniques introduced in his previous cycle book, The Handbook of Commodity Cycles. He also forecasts new, promising areas of cyclic research. This magnum opus on cycles trading features:
  • An in-depth analytical look at price cycles and repetitive patterns in today’s futures market.
  • New and promising tools for determining when prices have established cyclic lows and highs.
  • A status report on the dominant repetitive patterns in futures and cash market data.
Cyclc Analysis in Futures Trading: Contemporary Methods and Procedures also explores new areas of cyclical research made possible by current computer technology, examines the efficiency of previously delineated timing indicators, discusses the current reliability of historically established cyclical periods in the futures markets (such as 5.7 year cycles, 28 day cycles, and 9–11 month cycles), and reports new findings in established data and cyclic activity in the newer areas of futures trading. Whether you’re a speculator, trading advisor, hedger or investor, Cyclic Analysis in Futures Trading: Contemporary Methods and Procedures will prove an indispensable guide in your futures trading programs for years to come.
