A "How to" from preparation to actual trips, September 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Cycling England's Cotswolds [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you are looking to sit back and take a vicarious, leisurely bike ride through the Cotswolds, enjoying the scenery, then this is not for you. This video starts by taking you meticulously through all the preparations for such a trip, from buying tickets, transporting your bike, and what you need to do, or to take with you. It then shows the separate day's trips, complete with map and difficulty levels. The only video you'll see of the actual trips shows you taking a right here, a left here, going round a roundabout, etc. To make full use of these trip directions you'd need to write them all down ahead of time, or to watch them over and over again, so as to imprint the various landmarks on your memory. If I remember it correctly, the UK uses a different video system, so you'd need to do this before you leave the U.S. It is accompanied by an audio that also takes you through everything step by step. The first section of this video, the preparation part, would be extremely useful if you've never done this kind of thing before; it gives you information that you might never even have thought to consider. For the reasons listed above, I'm not so sure of the usefulness of the actual trip directions section.
