If you feel confined by mainstream electronic music software...,

If you're open to a somewhat steep learning curve (depending on how much you know about synthesis and programming concepts), Max may be the tool for you. I love the sounds I can make without feeling like I'm stuck in a sequencer. It definately requires patience but it's worth it. I am not sure if this is true, but it seems like there's more community support for Max/Msp/Jitter than for Reaktor (even though it's supossed to be easier to learn). I hope to continue to grow and be able to create my own plugins for Live and Logic.
