Book Description

October 10, 2003
This is a fast moving action packed adventure-mystery involving a rookie police officer in a sailor town Long Beach in 1959-1960.A body is discovered under the Cyclone Racer (the massive wooden roller coaster on the Long Beach Pike fun zone in the era). It's abortion gone wrong and the dumped body of a beautiful young victim tangles a young cop in the pursuit of a rapist who paid for an abortion and a crooked attorney who has homicide cop friends.Look at police work as it was done at that time. The Cyclone Racer also symbolizes the problems and conflicts (not taught in the police academy) and the highs and lows of the work. You will share emotional shifts that are truly a roller coaster ride.Human interest and romance move the story along.Pick up this book, and you'll not put it down. It's a yarn that exposes, close-up, the agony of bad abortions. Read this cop's street view of that time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cyclone Racer, August 10, 2006
This review is from: Cyclone Racer (Paperback)
Sixteen recruits had survived the six-week session of the Long Beach Police Academy. The stress and anxiety of intense training had finally come to an end. Sixteen of twenty original candidates would graduate.

Announcenment of the concluding ceremonies had been delivered. November 20, 1959 - a day all sixteen would remember.
