I work in law not medicine. I bought Taber's because of the many personal injury cases with which I was involved. People talk about legal language - nothing compares to medical terminology.

I have found Taber's to be extremely helpful in translating the medical reports that pass across my desk. It is comprehensive and yet breaks down the terms, diseases and injuries into language that a non-medically trained mind (mine people!) can understand and explain so that a judge can understand.

And because life can never be too good, it is very easy to use. The diagrams and photos are excellent - at least to my non-medically trained mind. The indexing is top-notch.

I also gifted it to another legally trained friend of mine with the same glowing reviews. I fully recommend this title.

The "&Taber's Electronic Medical Dictionary CD-ROM V 3.0" is an "online" version only for the extra $25.00, I can access this feature for only the next 12 months.
Product pictured shows an "actual" CD-ROM.
This is misleading advertising.
Now I discover there is nothing else I can do except send it back, and I needed it 2 days ago for my daughters class. There is no place that I can find at Amazon to complain about this and perhaps obtain the "so called" CD-ROM.

I ordered this not realizing that I would need internet access to use the CD. While out in the field, I don't have an internet connection available (wireless either). Not being able to use this offline defeated the purpose of purchasing it with the CD.

Taber's dictionary (CD-ROM) does not run from your PC, you must insert the CD-ROM. In addition, the support email address does not answer your questions.

Not recommendable.

Good book. I wanted the CD more than anything so I could just click and look up info, only to find out that you must put the CD in each time to use it.

Excellent, will use for a lifetime. Added benefit, that it is on my computer also.

it has been alot of help for me in my classes and with homework and now with work also.

I bought this several weeks ago and so far it is great. We do many letters that include medical terms. Our spell check just was not enough. This pops up on the screem when we turn the computer on. It is a handy addition to our word processing program.

The encyclopedia is good, but I didn't care for the software that came with it. It isn't comprehensive enough for what I want it for.

I am currently in college to obtain a certificate in medical coding and billing. This book and disc were recommended by other students, in the coding program as well as nursing. It is a complete reference, easy to use, and invaluable if you are entering the medical field.
