I had reconstructive surgery on my left ankle in November of 2007. I was on crutches for three months. I knew that I would not be able to carry anything while I was on crutches. This little head lamp saved the day, or night. When I needed to get up in the night for what ever reason all I had to do was put on the head lamp, turn it on and I had just the right amount of light! I could see great and I did not have to wake up my wife with too much light. The LED is very clear and bright, and the batteries have lasted a long time. There is no battery back to have to mess with. The batteries insert right behind the light, so they are easy to change.

This little light works great when you need a light source for short distances. Only draw back is that the light does not have a very far throw. But again for short distances, or for a concentrated light right in front of you, you cannot go wrong with this light.

This lamp is very small and light, but a bit dim. It also uses more expensive "button batteries". If being super light is important to you, this may be a good choice.

I'm willing to carry a few more ounces and get a brighter beam, longer battery life and more common AAA batteries with this Tikka Petzl E47 PS Tikka Plus Four-LED Headlamp, Soft

My son took this camping and informed me that it was great for reading in the tent, the little light can be angled on the head strap to point in different directions. He also informed me that it was NOT ENOUGH LIGHT for walking in the woods in the dark, one LED is apparently not bright enough to illuminate a far enough distance and he informed me he wants a brighter flashlight next time.

It's good, came quick. It does what you would think. Price was so-so. But then when I got it and was able to read the fine print: the battery life is not very good. Live and learn.

This is a great little flashlight. It is certainly not the brightest, but it is small and good enough if you can cope with a small cone of light. It is quite practical in that you can just have with you in case it is needed. I lost my last one, so this was a replacement. My previous one was particularly practical last fall when I was camping in the outback of Australia. We frequently set up and broke camp in the dark and this allowed me to have my hands free. It also allowed me to see inside my backpack and duffle while leaving my hands free to rummage around. I also used it to find the bathrooms in the middle of the night. Back here at home use it if I go walking late in the day in case I don't get home before dark. It also lets cars see where you are. I've also tied it to the front of my bike for added visibility.

I think the Cyclops is a sleeper item in the category of headlamps. It looks like a cheap knockoff to the more expensive headlamps but in reality it it is small, light, easy to use and 1/4 the price of similar products. Great for working around the house, camping / hiking and fun for kids.

Amazon has quite a few variations on this theme. The Cyclops isn't quite as bright as the Streamlight (professional Ghostbusters may wish to look into one of the more powerful, pricey models), but it's a nice compromise between having enough light on your page (or computer keyboard) and not waking up a nocturnal associate. Also, it's as simple and "instant" as you can get. No instructions, but they're not needed. Screw the eye by half a turn and you're in business; screw it counterclockwise by half a turn and it's off--no need to fumble for a switch, to install batteries, to fuss with a second head-strap (you'll look weird enough as it is). Having experimented with a couple of alternatives (another headgear, a clip lamp), the Cyclops has come to be my favorite (especially when coming to that part of the story in Homer's "The Odyssey").

Don't judge these by the quantity of LED lights. In many if not most instances, a single, decent, focusing LED light is all you need, especially if you don't want to set off a light show, illuminate a six-foot-long piano score, or flush-out uninvited apparitions.

For the price, the light works fine. I used it this morning while feeding animals in the dark. It was 12 degrees outside and I had no problems with the light. Fits well and has adjustable straps.

This was the 1st headlamp that I purchased. It is good for around the campsite or even for the kids. It is limited as far as brightness or distance but overall easy to use and adjustable strap is nice. If you are looking for some hardcore night hiking or a long weekend of camping where it will require a lot more light, this is not the headlamp for you as you may be disappointed. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Happy Hiking!

Got this for my husband. I already have one. I love it. Durable, easy, fits well. There is only one level of brightness, but that doesn't bother me. You can adjust the up and down focus of the light which is great. Batteries last good amount of time. The strap is adjustable for pretty much any size head. All you need to do to turn on the light is twist it so it's really simple. I like how it's not heavy on your head too. Great for general work, wouldn't use it for spelunking or anything.
