I love that it charges via USB.

If you are in very bright city lights, it's best to use the flash mode but level it up towards car traffic.

I bought this system for my MTB bike as my group rides at night through very dark trails.

Excellent light, well built with excellent materials. Being an electronics geek I disassembled it the moment I received it to make sure the electronics board and all wiring is well assembled and of good quality and found it to be really professionally built with rubber weather seals everywhere and with thermal paste for heat dissipation between the LED module and the front metal ribbed casing. Even the USB port rubber seal (which has many negative comments in other reviews) is very good and seals great.
Beam spread is excellent, couldn't be better and is very bright!

Packaging is minimal which I think is good. I don't need the iPod of packaging. It shows that the company put more money in to developing a good light.

On my bike when I Night commute, I could not see due to the lack of a concentrated bright Bicycle light so I looked into the CygoLite ExpiliOn 400 HeadLight after I fell 50 feet into an abandoned mine shaft (luckily no major injury, as it was a flooded mine); it had the best specifications (Durability, cost, easy rechargeable battery, Run Times, no wires or external batteries, Flash mode) when compared to Light & Motion, NiteRider MiNewt Mini, and DiNotte Lighting systems AA Bicycle Headlight Model.

I wanted an All-in-one design which required no wires or external batteries and a good run time.

I emailed CygoLite to ask about the LED Output (Lumens) Low-Brightness specs (Run Time 6 hours) since the High-Brightness Run Time is only 3 hours and I needed more Run Time but with decent Brightness.

They didn't answer me and got all paranoid about it, competition is tough it seems (NiteRider just came out with a VERY similar durable one-piece, Rechargeable bike light, the MiNewt 250 Cordless).

MiNewt 350 Cordless - 350 Lumens (3 Light Levels - High/Med/Low/ + Flash Mode)
(Run Times: 2:30 hour High/3:30 hour Med/4:30 hour Low)
(charging Time: 4:30 HR)
(System Weight 190 grams)
retail- $129.99

vs

ExpiliOn 400 - 400 Lumens (7 Light Levels - High/Low/ + Flash Mode)
(High-Brightness Run Time 3 hours/Low-Brightness Run Time 8 hours)
(charging Time: 5 hours)
(System Weight 130 grams)

The Lighting Modes:

1. High - very bright (3 hours)
2. Medium - great visibility/battery life (6 hours)
3. Low - gives decent visibility in dark (13.5 hours)

4. Boost - extremely bright, super brighter than High (2 hours)
5. Flash - flash bright (24 hours).

A great cycling light, especially for the money. It also doubles as a great handheld flashlight for intermittent duty (needs airflow over it for continuous duty).
One issue I have seen in other reviews that I have a easy solution for is the waterproof rubber cover over the USB charger connection. It is a soft rubber that is somewhat sticky and hard to reinsert back into the connector properly. A small dab of electrical or silicone grease on the rubber seal will make the insertion easy and waterproof. The grease is available at auto parts store in very inexpensive plastic packets.
Love this light!

Update after about 2 years usage:
I use the light extensively as a handheld flashlight as well as for normal cycling use. I broke the USB charge port rubber cover retaining shaft and contacted the manufacturer for a replacement by email. They responded quickly and mailed four replacement covers at no charge. I disassembled the case by removing three screws, inserted the new rubber cover and reassembled the case. The repair was quite straightforward. I have been more careful when removing the charge port cover since and have had no further problems.

Recently the rubber switch cover developed a crack due to extensive use as a flashlight and I again contacted the manufacturer via email. They promptly sent a package of four new switch covers, again at no charge. The replacement of the switch cover was quite easy with no disassembly required.

I can't express my appreciation adequately for Cygolite's GREAT customer service. Way to go guys!

PROS:
-Bright, easily usable as primary headlight.
-Light and securely/easily mountable on handlebars or helmet.
-Stated lumens is pretty accurate when compared to similarly rated product.
-Easily recharged via USB, with a green blinky light indicating charge status
-Very water resistant - multiple rides in heavy rains and no issues so far
-handlebar mount is one of the best I've seen - screwdown + flip = doublecheck system for ultimate security
-Strobe pattern works well, most cars slow down and try to figure out what is causing that flash!

CONS:
-I would have liked to see a separate battery charger so I can have a backup battery when the primary one drains.
-The cover for the charging port is very difficult to close and I can see over time it'd be a weak point in its otherwise water resistant design.
-Rubber button for changing modes is not very easy to press and can take your hands off the handlebars for more than a second, which may just be long enough to be dangerous when riding bumpy roads
-Helmet mount does not sit straight sometimes on my helmet (it has some wiggle room even if you secure the velcro strap tightly), leading my helmet to feel slightly out of balance.
