2.0 out of 5 stars Cyndi is awesome but the DVD is horrible!
I cannot believe Sony would do a "rush" poor quality job on this prized material. I have 12 Deadly Cyns on video tape and I think it's even better than this DVD. One bonus on this DVD is a new video for "I'm Gonna Be Strong." Cyndi struts her stuff with her signature yellow hair that is shown on the cover of the dvd and video.

I rated it a 2 stars...

This is a wonderful DVD. The backdrop is great. In between the various music videos, Cyndi Lauper is interviewed in Coney Island on and among the amusements. Although some reviewers have complained about the quality of the video image, the DVD is generally sharp. The only video that is looks slightly aged is Girls just Wanna Have fun, but that is not the fault of the DVD. The video looks to have been filmed on 16mm and therefore is not as sharp as the other videos. The rest of the DVD looks great. The interview material is fantastic and the videos rule! This DVD is a great bargain! Good value for the money!

4.0 out of 5 stars A 'HEAVENLY' COLLECTION OF CYN AT HER ECLECTIC BEST., October 29, 1999
By
"johnny_belinda" (Monarch Beach, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This video is a treasure for all of Cyn's fans. To see her with her friend goofing around at Coney Island circa 1994 is a delightful experience, especially since these episodes are intercut between her lovely videos. Her SHE'S SO UNUSUAL videos are her best. "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," "She-Bop," "Time After Time,"...these are stunning. From TRUE COLORS are the nonpareil videos "True Colors," and "What's Going On." However, "Money Changes Everything" and "Change of Heart" are most disappointing. My favorite song, "I Drove All Night," the sole video from A NIGHT TO REMEMBER (it may have been the only video she made from that album). An offbeat video that began Cyn's practice of directing her own videos, "I Drove All Night" is the perfect complement to Cyn's magnificent vocal stylings, and TWELVE DEADLY CYNS...AND THEN SOME (VHS) pays the ultimate tribute to a phenomenal artist. "Time After Time," Cyn has shown her "True Colors" and reminded us that "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." (And how she has.) "That's What I Think" of my favorite vocalist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cyndi Shines!, November 26, 2002

For Cyndi fans this DVD comes as a real treat. Fans of this colorful artist know that there is really not a whole lot of material on video even less on DVD about CYndi and her music. This DVD is great because it shows all of Cyndi's videos for her most popular songs and it also features Cyndi talking live and you get to see a lot of her throughout the DVD. This is definitely a must have for the devoted Cyndi Lauper fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally there's Cyndi Lauper material on DVD, February 27, 2001

But sony could have done a better job. You get dvd quality image and sound but nothing more than that cause they didn't bother to do an awesome job :( The videos made up for that lack of care - From the fun girls just wanna have fun til Hey now Cyndi's talent and beauty makes you want to watch this over and over. They could have added unreleased videos like Hole in My Heart and Goonies 're Good enough parts 1 and 2... Let's hope they release Cyndi Lauper In Paris - She's so talented it's a shame we have to wait centuries for each Cyndi release!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent DVD from criminally underrated artist, October 17, 2002

This review is from: Cyndi Lauper - 12 Deadly Cyns... And Then Some (DVD)

In my opinion, Cyndi Lauper is the best female pop singer this side of Dusty Springfield. She is also an excellent songwriter;
the fact that she has been covered by Miles Davis speaks for itself. I find her songs musically interesting, and Cyndi is also an artist who is not afraid to adress controversial topics
like onanism, abortion, the homeless and deep depression in her lyrics - so she is definitely much more than a funny girl. I find that a deep sense of humanism - the trade mark of all truly great artists - radiates thru her work.
If this is not enough, she is also a charismatic artist with a terrific stage presence...

I bought the DVD "Twelve deadly cyns" a couple of days ago, and I have already watched it twice. This DVD is to be placed in the same league as the real classic ones, like "Gimme shelter","Deja vroom", "Stop making sense" and Orbison's black and white show.

5.0 out of 5 stars She's still so unusual!, August 30, 2001
By
Diane D Kalecki (Worth, Illinois United States) - See all my reviews
Cyndi's best music videos all in one great Video. Fans will be far from disappointed. The videos are arranged in order from her first to the most recent and it's incredible to watch her change styles. In between each song she talks about her memories during that time period. Watching her is like watching a rainbow dancing around, very colorful, very Cyndi! You can never get tired of listening to or viewing this amazingly "unusual" and unique woman. One GREAT video!

This review is from: Cyndi Lauper - 12 Deadly Cyns... And Then Some (DVD)
Yeah! This is an excellent material but I don't understand why Sony took off Who let in the rain and The World is Stone from cd. So, this DVD is excellent for the material but it could be better. So, it will be a good idea. Sony, don't be ridiculous and put CYNDI L. IN PARIS on DVD. She need more. We are waiting!!! 10 to Cyndi 0 to Sony

I rated it a 2 stars because of the poor quality. The material on this DVD is excellent. It's just too bad Sony didn't care (about the DVD and about Cyndi leaving Sony)

This DVD is mastered with a reasonably good quality and it's fun to see Cyndi driving aroung Coney Island doing and saying some crazy things in her usual charming manner. Then you get some of her greatest videos. This DVD features her absolutely unforgettable studio and live performances. If you're a Shebopper then you need no more reasons to buy this collection. If you're not, then beware: after watching this you will turn into yet another fan of Cyndi. This DVD does not include Hole In My Heart, and some other great videos, but you can't win them all :(
And now, after Cyndi broke her ties with Sony, this DVD is THE one and only relatively complete collection of her greatest music videos. So, buy it now while it's available.
If you like really good music and great videos than you just gotta have this one.
Don't forget to check out Cyndi's newest album SHINE. It's really awesome. GO CYNDI!
