One of 2008's best.,

Peter's musical genius never ceases to amaze, this album is brilliance. As a metal-head it's nice having some party music (a lot of this stuff is danceable). I love the lyrics to "Monkey Business" and "Feed Us". The first talks about all the crap going on in the business/ finance world while the second talks about people's obsession with the lives of "celebritards" and needing to know about every tawdry scandal. There are a couple tracks on the disc I don't listen too much, namely "No One Knows" and "Not Your Kind".Highlights: "Monkey Business", "Follow Me", "Feed Us", "Reach Out (And Regret)", "Here's the News" <---- Amazing E.L.O. cover, and "Clouds of Ecstasy (Remix)"

There is no way to describe the god-awful metal genius that is Peter Tagtgren. The newest album by Pain is another journey into the seemingly illimitable depths of this musician's hidden cavern of incendiary poems. Pain is Peter's musical exercise in autonomous control....writing, recording, mixing, performing and producing the whole thing from soup to nuts (guest appearances notwithstanding). Once again, the result in luminous. Undeniably heavy and slithering with electronica, the end result grinds you to dust with a less caustic blade than his other band Hypocrisy, but with no less potent a venom. Hard driving anger arrives (Monkey Business) and carries some beautifully crafted musicality in tow (Follow Me). Other passengers offer an even more impressive gift of destruction, forcing facial contortions and inflicting spinal compression on a biblical level (Generation X & Live Fast, Die Young). Intense in it's delivery, sardonic in it's messages...Cynic Paradise gives unto us another pure musical expression of apocalyptic vehemence.

Mastermind Peter Tagtgren strikes again!,

As a long-time appreciator of Peter Tagtgren's impressive resume in the metal scene, picking up this album was a no-brainer. From his second Pain album on, Tagtgren has demonstrated his unsurprising tendency to push the envelope and create better albums with every attempt. Cynic Paradise delivers more pop influence along with Pain's characteristic industrial background (not to mention the top-notch production). Thematically, the lyrics remain on-target with those of previous albums. Songs such as "Generation X" and "No One Knows" remain serious in their themes. However, Peter ventures more into a sarcastic tone which seems rather comical in songs such as "Have a Drink on Me." Overall, a high-quality piece that fans and newcomers alike owe it to themselves to pick up.
