I have a 1st grader who reads at the 4th grade level. While his reading skills are great, he is still only 6 and his topics of interest are ...well, the interests of a 6-year-old boy. My son LOVES this series. He curls up with them and reads them on his own, and yet still loves to have them read aloud. Best of all, his dad and I don't mind reading them aloud --- we love them too.

Beast Quest #3. Easy reading. Good fantasy and short. My son wasn't a big reader, but this was interesting and short enough to get him started.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 9-year-old son loves this series!, March 18, 2009

My 9-year-old son loves to read for pleasure, and this series is quite a hit with him. The stories are interesting for kids (I haven't read them all, but it's basic fantasy, brave young people take on the responsibility of facing down monsters in order to save life as we know it without the aid of adults), but also not too complicated, so they're fairly easy to summarize for book reports as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent customer service, November 19, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ordered this book for my son. It came within 3 days, and he read it immediatly and loved it. While I'm sure it's not great literature, any book that a 9 year old boy will devour is wonderful in my opinion. Also ordered two books from this series at a slightly lower price from Smoky Mountain Books. It took 27 days for them to arrive! They must not have had them in stock, or else they put them on the back of a donkey for the trip from Tennessee to Maryland. Wish I'd just stuck with Amazon to begin with. Their service has always been great. I have also had good luck buying from individuals...but dealers like Smoky Mountain have been a disappointment.
