This is slow beautiful music. NOT ambient and NOT new age and NOT sappy (in my opinion), just simply beautiful. Think Mogwai, Lanterna, or Dif Juz, but better. There are low volume vocals, but mostly instrumental. Some of the most perfect peaceful music. The song "The Sort of Juice I'm Used To" is by far the best. Don't let the interesting song titles fool you, this is a must have.

If you've taken the time to look Cyrus Rego up on Amazon, then you probably already have an idea of what this CD is like. Therefore - go ahead and get it.Cyrus Rego was an immediate hit with me. The CD first came to my attention on a college radio station here in Atlanta. You hear a lot of interesting stuff on those stations, but when "The Sort of Juice I'm Used To" graced my ears, I had to sit in the parking lot to finish it out, then dash into my apartment, call the station and ask who that was. I have since bought this CD here at Amazon.com and am sooo glad I did. The music makes no attempt to entertain, to be clever, artsy, or poetic. It is just there, happening, and you can take it or leave it. I'll take it. You might wonder about paying the price for just seven tracks, but I'll take seven tracks of perfect austere melancholy over an album full of strained party anthems. You won't regret the decision. Go ahead. |
