Well here's the famous Muscle Milk.
If you are thinking about getting this product but you are not sure if it is appropriate for you let me let you know why it probably is, or probably isn't or at least you should go easy on it.

It is inexcusable to have such high levels of toxic substances in a food supplement, period !!! Cytosport's response to the Consumer Reports findings have also been very qustionable and shady, to say the least.... With so many other great choices in sports supplements, everyone should keep away from any Muscle Milk product

Well here's the famous Muscle Milk.
If you are thinking about getting this product but you are not sure if it is appropriate for you let me let you know why it probably is, or probably isn't or at least you should go easy on it.
Although this is no "weight gainer", it is between a regular protein powder and weight gainer, since 2 scoops have 350 calories. 160 of those are from fats, 8 of them saturated. MCTs fats are easily burned as energy, but you can still find nutritionists that say that's just not true. So it's up to you. I would go with bodybuilders and athletes that love the product since, well, they are the, literally, living proof.

When should you drink it? The manufacturer tells you that you should consume it after waking up, before working out, after working out, and before sleeping...hehe well manufacturers are always telling us to consume their product as much as we can for "better results" but the truth is that supplements should be used wisely and aren't magic so don't worry about consuming it 4 times a day. Besides, 160 times 4 are 640 calories from fat. That's 30% of 2000. You should get about 25% of your calories from fat (if you really wanna be lean) so if you mix the muscle milk with soy milk and you eat close to 3000 calories, that's almost all the fats you should get. Nothing else, no peanut butter, no almonds, etc. Besides there's no really need of muscle milk after waking up and before workout. Everyone knows that whey protein is the best pre workout protein due to its fast effect. But I get it after workout and before sleeping.

Does it work? Well, if you have a good workout and you have a good diet it does work. I have dropped some body fat % since I started to take it and I have gained some muscle mass without gaining any fat. I recommend mixing this with soy milk or low fat milk at night and not getting anything else.
Getting calories from fats at night is fine, when we sleep we burn calories and most of them from protein and fats. But we don't burn that many carbs while sleeping. Don't get me wrong, I don't live the "low carb lifestyle", but I go easy on them at night. If you get less than 30 grams of them in the last hours of the day you'll be fine. That's why muscle milk is a good choice for pre sleep protein since it has little carbs.
For post workout I recommend the same mixture of Muscle Milk and soy or low fat milk but eat fruits too. You need carbs after workout and the fats will help a lot since carbs work better with fats (and protein too. In fact, fats are much better being consumed to join carbs and protein).

Now , I'm not gonna say this is the best tasting bodybuilding powder in the world because I haven't tried them all...but it is the best I have ever tried and I doubt there's anything better. I just love every flavor. The cookies and cream is just delicious, almost like an ice cream. And it barely has sugar. You won't find a better tasting powder, I'm sure of that.

If you are on a diet trying to lose that belly I wouldn't recommend this to you. But if you are already lean or have always been and now your goals is getting lean muscle, then go ahead.
The price is the only turn off though but if you think a good product and with an awesome taste makes the price of a product even more worth it, go ahead.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's more than taste, March 26, 2009
This review is from: CytoSport Muscle Milk, Chocolate, 2.47 Pound (Grocery)
I've been reading quite a few reviews on Muscle Milk just to get a feel if others shared my experiences with it. What I find is just about half the reviews talk about nothing more than how great it tastes. That would be fine if the product were a very expensive milkshake, but it's a muscle enhancing product and there are little details in these reviews about whether or not it worked for them. So let me share. Yes, it did give me results. I am 41, 6'1, 210 lbs and after using MM for about 6 weeks there was a very noticable expansion of lean muscle and reduction of fat, particularly around my midsection. I am not new at this, I have been working out since I was in my early 20s. Tried lots of different products all pledging to do everything but change my oil. I have been MM for three years now, cycling it every 6 weeks when in heavy training and for 2-3 months when training light. Yes, it does deliver. And yes, it does contain a lot of sugar and fat so make sure you balance your diet to compensate for that. I also stack it with an amplified creatine monohydrate, green tea supplements, and fish oil. Also use L-Glutamine along with my MM shake after each workout for proper recovery. Just be careful with MM as it WILL make you fat if you are not eating clean and staying consistent with your training. Otherwise I do recommend it highly. Oh...and it tastes great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Taste & Works Well, January 25, 2005

It's difficult for me to say how effective this fat/protein/carbo combination works compared to other muscle building shakes which consist of mainly whey protein, but it does indeed help burn fat (when combined with regular exercise of course) and it tastes great. So many health shakes taste chalky or just plain bad, but this product really tastes great mixed with skim milk. I highly recommend it.

I was a little skeptical about this product as I'm not looking to get huge muscles (the name "Muscle Milk" almost stopped me from using it)... but it got good reviews and my friends like it, so I thought I'd try it.
First off, this stuff tastes great! I don't even feel the need to use milk, I just blend it with ice and water. It's more than enough to keep me full between meals or curb hunger post-workout. I'm not sure about the "muscle building" properties but I was able to lose weight and inches by substituting Muscle Milk for sweets -- so, at the very least it's a good way to get my chocolate fix without completely derailing all my hard work at the gym.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, but read before you buy!, July 1, 2007

This review is from: CytoSport Muscle Milk, Chocolate, 2.47 Pound (Grocery)
Muscle Milk is a great product; it has an innovative, scientific make-up and works really great, if you know how to use it properly.

These kinds of products are not miracle muscle growers, as some of the previous reviews have been confused about. Protein supplements work to help build muscle while you yourself are working to build muscle, through weight lifting, training etc.

Proteins are macromolecules that can be found in many food products, but supplements like this are the easiest way to get a lot of protein, fast. The presence of this extra protein in your body will be essential during muscle growth, AFTER YOU WORK YOUR MUSCLES! Muscles rebuild themselves, so basically the more you work them, the more they have to repair themselves, the bigger they get.

Again, this is not a MiracleGrow product! As a side note, consult with your doctor before increasing your protein intake to very high levels. Also, don't consume too much of this stuff a day; it can actually be bad for you in large quantities.

On a final note, the Chocolate flavor tastes okay, but not great.

After drinking it for 1-2 weeks, I started to have skin rash on several areas of my body. You should read the article at [...] before drinking it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tasty, but..., June 24, 2010
This review is from: CytoSport Muscle Milk, Chocolate, 2.47 Pound (Grocery)
...recent Consumer Reports testing indicates:

The worst of the products tested was MUSCLE MILK CHOCOLATE powder, which contained all four TOXIC METALS; three of them at the highest levels of all products tested. Three daily servings of this particular brand and flavor contained an average of:

* 5.6 µg cadmium
* 13.5 µg of lead
* 12.2 µg of arsenic
* 0.7 µg of mercury

Muscle Milk's Vanilla Crème contained slightly less lead, but still exceeded the USP lead limit of 10 µg.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why this product is awesome, March 14, 2011
This review is from: CytoSport Muscle Milk, Chocolate, 2.47 Pound (Grocery)
Let me start of by saying that this is not some magic powder that once you take it you will look like Rambo without doing any work. If you really want to see the results that this product can provide then you're going to have to work hard; if you're not willing to do work then you may as well close this page because this product is not for you. To anyone out there that is left, this is an amazing product and completely worth every penny. I'm an 18 year old, I've been going to the gym since Oct 2010 for 3-5 days a week (depending on work schedule) for anywhere from 1 to 2 1/2 hours a visit.I was starting to get the results I was looking for but I wanted to take it to the next level without looking like a scary ridiculously jacked person that should be in a steroids ad. I found this product and decided to go for it. I have been using it for a week and no lie, after 2 days I was seeing results that I have been aiming for since October. There are some suggestions that I would make; the label says to use 2 scoops for 10-12 oz and I found that it was too potent and that the powder would not fully dissolve so I use about 1 3/4 scoops and its perfect. It also said you can take it multiple times a day (before, during and after workout, before bed) I just use before every workout and before bed (only on the days that I go to the gym.) Also, some people said that this product was making them gain weight, well I don't know how often they were using but there are 2 factors that they probably did not take into consideration... 1. muscle weighs more than fat and this product is meant to build/enhance muscle. 2. This is a protein shake, it can pack on pounds if you use it excessively, so just bump up the amount of cardio you do on a daily basis and you should not have that problem. If you're still skeptical, They sell this brand of single shakes at WAWA and probably other places; so get a few and try them to see if they work for you. If they do then you should buy the powder because it will save you a ton of money; The price of 10-12 single shakes is equal to the price of the largest tub of this powder. I have made about 10 shakes with the powder and have barely put a dent in the tub yet. Hope I helped. Good Luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Product -- Tastes Great!, January 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: CytoSport Muscle Milk, Chocolate, 2.47 Pound (Grocery)
I had been drinking Cytosport's premade, 11oz Muscle Milk (Chocolate Milk flavor), for months and I decided to give the Chocolate (NOT Chocolate Milk, like the bottled kind I had been drinking) a try. Well the Chocolate powder tastes even better than the premixed Chocolate Milk flavor. I've burned through a 2.47 bottle in about a week, drinking sometimes three glasses/servings a day. I use Muscle Milk as a meal replacement and/or snack, and it really satisfies me. Zero lactose means (for me) no gas (of course, I mix it with water, versus milk). I really cannot say enough about this product: the taste is delicious; it mixes up well (not really clumpy like some other protein mixes, but do stir it well); and I feel really good after drinking it (satisfied, and not bloated). In fact, I just purchased three more 2.47 lb bottles (2 Chocolate, and 1 Vanilla Creme -- which I have never tried before). I highly recommend it.
