Hey, this is martin_timothy and who ever wrote those negative reviews is CLEARLY working for the competition!
I've been supplementing with protien powders since 1995 when the Weider 15lbs bucket of CHALK was hot, we had to mix nesquick or strawberries and bananas in a blender choke that old stuff down down! The 100% Whey at COSTCO is the ONLY 6lbs bag under $40 with 80 servings that actually mixes smoothe in a hand shaker AND tastes as smooth as chocolate milk (or vanilla malt, or strawberry shake) - GET IT, AND USE IT DAILY! Yes, Syntha-6 and ON Gold Standard taste just as good or a little better depending on ones taste - but costs about twice as much per serving! I have earned 3 first place titles out of seven competitons in natural bodybuilding and can honsestly say Cytosport products have contributed to my top class physique! I have logged in over 190 work outs on-line, so I back that claim up any day of the week right here (...)~semper fi~

So like most of the people here, I bought my Muscle Milk at Costco. I'm a pretty avid protein consumer (Optimum Nutrition, Champion Nutrition, BSN, Muscle Milk, Body Fortress, heck I've even tried the GNC overly priced store brands). That being said, this is a really good product. I got the big bag for $36, not bad for nearly eighty servings. That's right, EIGHTY SERVINGS. A 2-month supply of protein for 36 bucks. To calculate, that's less than 50 cents per serving; this stuff is cheaper than a can of Coke!

It's got all the stuff I look for in a good protein powder:
Whey protein (duh)
low carbs
low total/saturated fat
the correct amount of protein per serving (27 is just right with milk; the body absorbs around 30-40 g protein at a time)
low sugar
BCAA's (to help the body absorb the protein and recover after workouts)

For the taste: Those of you who know anything about protein powders know that Muscle Milk tends to be one of the better-tasting brands out there. This stuff is no different. The taste is good, and obviously better with milk. I exclusively get chocolate, no matter what brand I'm buying from. It's just a safe bet to get chocolate. And while we're on the subject, serious athletes don't even care about taste! Let me repeat that for you: Serious athletes don't care about the taste. If you want a healthy body, you won't go eating cheeseburgers and pizza all day (even though they are delicious). You'll eat healthy food, hopefully the best-tasting healthy food you can find. It's no different with protein powder. You get the best stuff you can, so you look the best you can. I think this protein's good.

I give it 4 stars, because the price is better at Costco than the Amazon price, and it isn't a "miracle shake" that somehow tastes like Nesquik without having a ridiculous amount of sugar. Give me that shake, and it would be perfect.

This is one of the best protein powers I've tried and I've tried nearly every one out there. I'm a personal trainer and have been working out for over 6 years. I stuck with Syntha-6 for quite a while but being in college required me to take on some stingy shopping rules. That's when I found this at Costco! At first I found it a bit sketchy since it was in a warehouse and I didn't like Muscle Milk all that much (same company) but the price really caught my eye. Upon closer investigation I found that this had a better ingredients list than Gold Standard which is the #1 selling protein powder. It has barely anything extra next to the whey concentrate and isolate which is hard to come by when looking for a cheap deal. So I took a bag of chocolate home for just $40. To give you a better comparison, this protein is $7 to the pound while syntha-6 is over $10. After I got home I immediately went to try it. I opened the bag and all I smelt was cocoa and heaven. It reminded me of the nesquik chocolate powder. I mixed it in a shaker bottle which was amazingly easy. Everything dissolved right into the water. Drinking it was just as enjoyable as the price and the smell. Mmmm, tasted good! I must admit it had a bit of a bitter after taste but that quickly went away with the next sip. All in all, I 100% recommend this product. Don't listen to those writing about the taste or smell. Real athletes wouldn't even peep if the taste was bad. Hold your nose if that helps although I've never had to. The ingredients to me are second best to pure whey isolate which can be expensive so this cheap option is very convenient to those looking for a boost. Remember though to ingest protein right before, during or after workouts only!Read more ›

I have used ON Gold Standard Whey for years, and until recently, it was the best bang for your buck. But since its no longer available under the amazon subscribe and save program, the price has increased dramatically (to about $53.00 for a 5lb. tub). So, I decided to try Cytosport's whey at costco.

Good:
- 27g of protein per serving
- Almost 80 servings (per 6lb bag)
- Priced at $39.99 at Costco
- BCAA's
- Taste (Chocolate flavor is not bad once getting used to)

Bad:
- Cholesterol (Far too much, over 20% DV per serving)
- Taste (People complain about it being too sweet, or having a chemical taste and smell)

All in all, if Gold standard was the same price, I'd choose Gold Standard. But since I'm on a budget, I'm sticking with this for now.
