Looking at ADD from a positive ADD Perspective,
By Paul Weissleder (New York City) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A.D.D. and Success (Paperback)
Before reading this book, I knew little about the elements that come together to give a person the advantages and challenges of ADD. I just thought it was a fancy name for hyperactivity. Obviously, this book will not make you an expert overnight, but will help by revealing the personal experiences of people who got the right kind of help and support for getting around certain ADD challenges they faced. They did not all have the same problems, nor did they find the same solutions. What they did have in common was a special talent for adaptation that was like a second sense. Finding out how they acquired these talents makes the book more than worth reading. I would read anything on this subject by Lynn Weiss.

It's about time!,
By A Customer
This review is from: A.D.D. and Success (Paperback)
Well, it's about time somebody stands up and lets others know ADD can be a positve thing. This book is great. Lynn Weiss looks at A.D.D. as a different way of thinking rather than the disability that others have made us believe it is. She is one of the few people that isn't trying the CURE A.D.D. Maybe the rest of the A.D.D. community will start thinking that way too!

Somehow Unsatisfying,
By Melanie (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A.D.D. and Success (Paperback)
This book left me wanting. I hear a lot of rhetoric all the time about the positive aspects of ADD so I wanted some guidance on maximizing mine, and finding a good professional niche that would finally pull things together for me. This wasn't it.
It is really just a collection of stories about people who have found unusual work. But almost all of the individuals "fell" into their solution. So the message is hang out until something falls into your lap? Not helpful. Other stories involved people who had advantages often not available to an ADD adult who has little money or education due to lack of treament -- due to little money -- due to lack of treatment -- due to little money.... I would have liked to see more practical examples, showing why the solution was well suited for the particular ADD type, and how success was acheived step by step so that I can see some clear possibilities and, most importantly, realistic options as an ADD'er. Kudos for the positive approach though!

Highly Recommended for Those Who Suffer from ADHD Symptoms!,

This review is from: A.D.D. and Success (Paperback)
Every person Dr. Lynn Weiss had interviewed seemed to find out positive sides of ADHD traits. Although I have read several books on developmental disabilities, I have never come across such optimistic people with ADHD in Japan! Mainly because fewer people know about ADHD than in the US, if you ask me. Of course, I'm aware that some ADHD people have gotten over their symptoms, where they could find it successful. However, we must recognize they had been through lots of hard times in the past, struggling with their ADHD. Judging from each person's experience, he/she seemed to take full advantage of positives of his/her ADHD very wisely, which led to happiness and success. Unfortunately, I can't find any pro of ADHD yet, though.
Overall, I'm sure this book will help you cope wisely with ADHD to be happier!

This is a book that addresses ADD as something other than a disorder. Lynn Weiss talks about many people who have ADD are very successful. It's great to see that people with ADD can be succesful in life. This is a very well written book.
