I found this book to be an excellent resource for understanding the obstacles the Allied forces faced when storming the beaches. There are two pages devoted to various beach obstacles. There are also two pages devoted to St-Mere-Englis, including a map. Modellers of World War II will definately find this book useful. It is a quick and enjoyable read.

I recently toured the Normandy area including the beaches and in land towns that were part of the the WWII June 6th battles. Needless to say there are many books on a variety of languages for sale all over the area and this one is the most comprehensive I found. It has breakdowns by each beach and airborne landing sight plus build up and break out details. It has been well researched and written with many excellent photographs and maps. A great working souvenir of the area, or for someone who just wants to know more about the subject.
There are more expensive books, pariculalry if you buy them there, but this one gives you more bang for the buck than then others. |
