5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book to Teach ABC's and Scripture!
This book is written from a creationist viewpoint, a literal interpretation of scripture. The rhyme is delightful, the pictures are great! I read this to my son's from birth on ... It is highly enjoyable!

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrifying
In the USSR, the state would havew a training class to teach children there is no God. All the children (roughly the same age as would be reading this book) would have to put their heads down and pray for a cookie. Then they were to lift their heads. No cookie would be there of course. Then they were told to ask the state for a cookie and then put their heads down...

5.0 out of 5 stars I.D. is for Intelligent Design, November 12, 2005

Do you want to teach your child to think critically, or to swallow everything he/she hears without question? Unfortunately, many are ruled by passion rather than logic, and are therefore unwilling to consider the possibility of a view not held by the establishment. This book introduces young children to the idea that this world and its inhabitants came into being by the work of an Intelligent Designer, rather than by a Big Bang.

Folks argue on both sides using the same scientific evidence to back up their claims. Their presuppositions affect their interpretation of the data. However, a visit to www.discovery.org will provide a list of scientists as well as an intelligent basis of their conclusions. Or, you may want to read Science and Evidence of Design in the Universe by Dr. Stephen Mayer or Darwin's Black Box by Michael Behe.

For those who want to introduce their children to the idea of an Intelligent Designer, D is for Dinosaur is an excellent resource. It's fun rhyme allows it to be sung to the tune of the ABC song. The illustrations are bright, humorous and attention grabbing. Plus, they are reproduced in the back for you to copy so your children can put in their own colors. Additionally, the author provides other resources helpful for parents and educators.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creationist gem, May 5, 2007

If you're a creationist, then you know how hard it is to find books like these. My husband found it a little too flippant, but our daughter enjoys it. I think it's cute and well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful resource, August 24, 2009
This review is from: D Is for Dinosaur (Hardcover)
Are you looking for something to teach your children about Creation and Dinosaur but coming up short handed with all the evolution based 'stuff' out in the market today? In today's evolutionary and humanistic society our children are bombarded by non Biblical world views. I have a wonderful resource for parents and others who want to deliver Biblical truths about Creation and dinosaurs.
Master Books a division of New Leaf Publishing has published a wonderful resource written by Ken and Mally Ham titled D is For Dinosaur. The book is a three one resource for teaching young children (although my 7 year old also enjoyed it) more about Creation from a Biblical Creationist standpoint. The book is a three in one book that includes a wonderfully written ABC rhyme book, a coloring book, and a devotional/teaching book that can be used by Sunday Schools, Home School, Christian School or just by a parent who wants to add to their at home teaching after school hours.
The book measures 11 X 8 1/2 inches and is hard covered with 124 pages and there are beautifully illustrated pictures. The pictures are drawn with keeping the children's interest in mind while they listen to the story and learn the alphabet and Creation story as the story is read. Full of educational value this book will be treasured for years to come and even be passed down through the generations, creating a godly generation. The second part of the book is the coloring book which has images from the story that the children can color themselves. The story is retold along side the coloring pages. The third section, included beside the coloring pages (devotional/teaching guide) has notes to the parents or teachers (or in my case both) which gives ideas for deepening the educational use of the book. Student exercises are also included that can provide additional hands-on learning for the entire family. I think any Christian family regardless of denomination could use this book, especially those who believe in the young earth and Biblical Creation.

Love, love, love this book. If you are or even not a Christian and want some answers for your young kids about how the Dinosaurs fit into this world and timeline, then this is a great book that does just that. Not only do you have the story book up front, but in the back there is basically a teachers guide with black and white pictures that you can copy for the kids to color. We also have "A is for Adam" which is another fantastic book which talks about where we came from. If you have a 7 or 8 year old who is learning to read, this is also a fantastic book fot your reader. The words are easy enough to read through but give them a challenge at the same time. If you have never read Ken Ham's books then your in for a treat. Highly recommend this book!

My children and I enjoy this book. I appreciate the author's attention to the Bible, and his understanding that the evolutionary theory is just a theory -- not a fact! Mr. Ham, Please keep on writing and publishing books that build faith and encourage critical thinking.

This book uses the same sort of logic to make the reverse argument. If it wasn't right the first time, it isn't right now, and what is terrifying is that truth and fact no longer have the weight they once did.

There is NO argument in the scientific community about evolution as others would have you believe. There is an argument AGAINST the scientific community by people who no nothing about science, but know plenty about politics and law. So your child may be reading this horror story in the near future so we can make our way back to burning women at the stake if they float when thrown bound and gagged into the river.

This book teaches children that dinosaurs were in the garden of eden. Rediculous. Why dont we teach our children science based FACT instead?

This book is ok - not wonderful - just ok. Maybe it's not quite right for 3 year olds but older ones may enjoy it.
