A great book for young children and old women alike.,

And I speak as an 81 year old who got great kicks from reading and doodling. The little children I've given this book to are devouring it and taking it to bed with them! Keep up the good work!

This is my first review for Amazon. I felt compelled to write about this book because I find it to be so fun and educational for me and my children. The book uses letters, both upper and lower case, to create pictures that begin with that letter. The letter "m" is my favorite because it uses the whole word "mouse" to create a picture of a mouse. We've been doing a letter a day at our house. I take a sheet of paper and draw a big letter and fill it in with something (for instance today is W day and I filled in the big W to look like a watermelon), then we draw the pictures from this book. Today it was witch and walrus. Most of the drawings are simple enough for my 5 year old to do, and I (a 35 year old) am able to do all of them :) Many of the pages have little side pictures in addition to the main pictures that also use the letters. My only wish for this book would be for more of the letters to include these "extra" pictures, since I have no imagination! Otherwise, a wonderful book.

Oodles of Great Doodles,
By Michael Peters (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews

D is for Doodle is full of ingenious, fun and yet simple to draw cartoons. My daughter loves the way Deborah Zemke turns letters and shapes into animals and characters. My daughter loves to try new doodles and D is for Doodle also inspires to make up her own doodle characters.

A creative way to teach drawing,

Cute and easy to use. If your artist can write the letters of the alphabet, then they'll be able to use this book. It's a creative way to teach drawing. My niece, who is 6, loves it and is able to draw most everthing in the book.

This is a great book. For children who love to doodle/draw it is great fun. Also, a great way for children to learn their letters capital and lower case and also the letter sounds. Great fun.

"D is for Doodle" was given as a gift to my 4 year old nephew recently, and he absolutely loves it! He loves drawing and is learning how to write, so this book is perfect for him. It's bright, colorful, and fun for doodlers of all ages!

cute but not what I expected,

its a cute book but I expected a book full of doodles and it has doodles butit is how to turn stick figure letters A-Z into a work that starts with that letter. Say you write a z and then turn that z into an entire drawing of a zebra. It is a cute idea but not a book full of random doodles like I thought it would be.

I also bought the authors other book, Z is for Zoodle. Both of these books are creative and fun. She draws the children in with her stories and step-by-step instructions, she makes it easy to learn. I always pull this book out when my grandchildren visit, its fun for all of us. I highly recommend this book.
