How all music DVDS should be!,
By Bill K (Denver CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: D.A.F.T. (DVD)
This is a great DVD that utilizes almost every special feature that DVDs have over all other media formats. You get the videos for "Da Funk," "Around the World," "Burnin'," "Revolution 909" and "Fresh" including audio commentary, storyboards, and making-of segments. Here's what i thought was the best part of the package - "Rollin' & Scratchin'" Live in LA (Dec '97) where you can use the angle function to choose between 8 different camera positions! All in all, a great package at a fantastic price. Hopefully other electronic artists - Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk, Chemical Brothers - will see the path that this compilation has laid down, hurry up, and put out their own disc. Why only 4 stars? 5.1 sound would have been nice, and c'mon - let's be objective, they're music videos, it's not _Citizen Kane_ or _2001_... One more good note - unlike the other French-duo with a DVD, there's no pretentious and boring 40-minute documentary!

Well done,

I liked this DVD because I had not yet seen any of Daft Punk's music videos. Basically, this DVD is composed of 5 music videos: Da Funk, Around the World, Burnin, Revolution 909, and Fresh. It contains at least 2 commentaries on each video and even remixes. On the B Side, it includes "Rollin & Scratchin" Live in LA and you can choose between 9 different camera angles to view it!

This is a great music video DVD. It has remixes of the songs, behind the scenes, commentary, Spike Jones, and great videos!... You also get a 9-angle concert piece on the other side. I wish all music DVDs had this much content (for the price they charge, they should).

A must have!,

If you like Daft Punk at all, you will really enjoy being able to watch all the old school videos DVD. Wish there were more videos, but they used the 'making of' footage and paired it with remixes to make new videos for the remixes, so that's cool. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Around the World,
This review is from: D.A.F.T. (DVD)
I've given this DVD a five rating purely becuase it has the Around the World video on it. Surely one of the most techically accomplished and visually stunning videos ever made. Michel Gondry is a genius in music video making. I expect in years to come people will look back at this video and still wonder about how exactly it was made. With only Radiohead's 'Street Spirit' and Chris Cunningham's robotic masterpiece of Bjiork's 'All is full of Love' come close to providing such a perfect visual interpretation of the music surrounding it. Enjoy!

Daft Punk made some great video back in the 90's when their Homework album came out. Now that MTV barely shows any videos, and they hardly show any electronica anyway, this made sense for me to buy.

The music videos of Daft Punk's music are quiet enjoyable. Only, I didn't prefer the "DogFace" videos because they focused more on the script of this scene rather than the music. It seemed like an random movie scene with Daft Punk in the background.

I'm a huge fan of Daft Punk so I had to buy up all their products. This DVD features music videos from the their first album release Homework but does not cover all the songs from the CD also as a bonus feature it contains a live performance of one of their songs from the same album. I really like this DVD but then again I am a huge fan. Bottom line if you enjoy Daft Punk and want videos made by them with their music then get this DVD

A great DVD for music video lovers,
By Mike Spier (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: D.A.F.T. (DVD)
D.A.F.T. is a very well compiled DVD featuring five of the best music videos in the industry, including Spike Jones (of beastie boy fame) and even the self directed fresh. The music is great, the quality is great, the commentary is excellent, a decent interface, and the plethora of information provided with it is incredible. So why four stars instead of five? I felt that some of the included material was unneccesary such as all of the documentaries with on set sound, and I felt that the "direct your own video" on rollin and scratching was a bit corny and awkward in its interface.

I love Daft Punk, this DVD is simply 5 music videos...that is it. No remixes, nothing. Just a lot of commentary...the music and videos are still great but I don't think I'd buy it again if I had the chance.
