3.0 out of 5 stars Fun Rock n' Roll, February 1, 2008
This review is from: D Generation (Audio CD)
As far as I know, there's nothin' wrong with playing some rock n' roll, and D Generation do just that, with a bit of punk and a hint of sleaze thrown in for good measure. They may not be the most talented musicians I've ever heard, but they play with energy and passion, and sometimes that's good enough in rock n' roll. It won't win any awards, but this is a fun record and enjoyable to listen to, which will impress on occasion, with a killer second half ("Wasted Years" and "Ghosts"...and especially "Vampire Nation").

Rock on!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best records of the nineties..., June 8, 2007
This review is from: D Generation (Audio CD)
mix Cheap Trick's first record with Aerosmith's Rocks, plus a dash of The Ramones - and you have D-Gen's debut. couldn't have been released at a worse time for the band, the very strange mid-nineties. no one knew what to do with them: they were too punk and weird for the masses, yet not punk enuff for punk snobs. the industry didn't know what to do with them, either - and the album got buried. the only down-side, and someone else here mentioned it: the production isn't stellar, and fails to capture the band's amazing live energy. but even that can't hide the hooks galore. and Jesse Malin's lyrics seperate D-Gen from any hair-metal comparisons (and i like hair metal). if you like catchy hard rock, buy this album...
