Not really season 2,

This review is from: D. Gray-Man: Season Two, Part One (DVD)
I'm a big fan of D.gray-man and have seen the entire series. This one should not be missed by any anime fan.
However this isn't season 2. The first 4 box sets coming out are actually all of season 1. Season 1 consists of 51 episodes and you only get 13 episodes for box set 1 (Allen is on the cover); episodes 14-26 for the second (Yuu is on the cover); episodes 27-39 for the third box set (Lenalee is on the cover); and the final episodes of season 1 coming out in the 4th box set 1.05.10 (Lavi is on the cover). I really love this series, but I wish they just put at least half onto one box set and the other in the second. Calling this "season 2" is very misleading by the company and false since it isn't season 2. So if you want to save some money it might be best to wait until all the 103 episodes are released into one box set (or 2) otherwise you'll be paying a fortune every time these box sets are released, but if you can't wait and want to see this awesome series now then go ahead and enjoy.

I first saw a preview of this show a few years ago at Anime Weekend Atlanta. I was really looking forward to watching this. Sadly, like many other animes, the show is severely lacking thus far. I haven't read the manga but I know it's still being written. Perhaps that's the problem. The studio may be trying to get the series out to the media before there was any good source material so they just started making stuff up.
There's too much filler episodes and not enough story/character development. It's too episodic. In fact, by Season 2, I've started watching it on fast forward! Mind you, the animation series I prefer include Full Metal Alchemist and Avatar the Last Airbender. So if you are not of similar interests, disregard this review and give it a try.
