5.0 out of 5 stars Works even with complicated connection
Bought one of these for under $15. I have a powerline Ethernet adapter connected to my router. On the other end of the second powerline adapter (which uses your house electrical wiring), I connected this switch. To the switch, I connected my DirecTV DVR and also an Ethernet to USB adapter to connect to my series 2 TiVo (which only has a USB connection). Everything...

3.0 out of 5 stars Little slower than I like
I bought one of these as a gift but wanted to test it first, so I swapped it out with a cheap Belkin wireless G router currently being used as a switch ( you only use the ouputs of the router, Not the input on the router and it becomes a switch) . As expected, using the D-Link switch was a plug and play type thing and worked instantly. However, watching a dvd from my...

5.0 out of 5 stars Works even with complicated connection, January 8, 2009
This review is from: D-Link DES-1105 5-Port 10/100 Desktop Switch (Personal Computers)
Everything works perfectly. No configuration needed (obviously, couldn't do it when connecting to non-computer devices). It just works. Both the DirectTV DVR and TiVo DVR work fine, simultaneously!

This is my third purchase of the D-Link "Green" series switches. My third purchase not due to defects, but because they are such great products.

These switches are EXTREMELY easy to set up, work as advertised, and save energy over other 'regular' switches to boot! It has auto sensing ports, so they are easy to link together and it 'just works'. My only complaint would be they get a tad warm... but what electronic device doesn't?

I would recommend this switch and this entire series to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Product!, May 19, 2011

I bought this to extend my network so I didn't have to have anything connected through wifi...and that's exactly what this did. I didn't even use the install CD, I literally plugged in the power supply and powered up the switcher, than ran an ethernet cable from the uverse modem into the switcher, and than connected my computer. It worked instantly! I have AT&T Uverse and I ran out from a regular ethernet output, not the broadband port fyi. Dont waste your time trying to get some spare router you have laying around to work. Get this...who want's to try and figure out how to configure ip's and other bs.

I am very happy with this DLINK switch. I purchased it to extend my home network for an XBOX 360 and another needed port for my new DirecTV receiver.

Price was great!

The product worked out of the box. It was as easy as plugging in the power and the network cables... works like a charm.

I found this product very easy to deploy. It enabled the sharing of a single ethernet port between my desktop and laptop computers, at a very good price point.

I bought this switch to expand my home network. It needs no cross over cable
and was instantly recognized by my D-Link DGL-4300 router. An excellent buy for the money

Great for the price. I purchased this when I needed to add a connection for my blu-ray player. I have a wireless router in the office. I use an electrical ethernet connection to get the ethernet signal to my Family room where I needed to connect my DirecTV and the new Samsung Blu-Ray player. I hooked this up in the Family room and connected the two boxes to the switch. That was it. Nothing to set up or configure, it just worked. Both units have Internet access and work great. My only confusion was that it stated it was a five port switch. Well you need one port for the input signal that leaves you with 4 outputs. Fine for me but it was a little confusing at first.

I have few Ethernet switches, but all were few years old. Some were running at as much as 100 watts when using 3 connections, and they were not even gigabit switches! After replacing an old one with this, I measured it's power consumption with a kill-a-watt meter, and it says 2.1 to 2.7 watts! This would save me about $10 per month (assuming $.15/kwh).

I bought this when it was on lightening deal for around $10. I would buy more as necessary, even if it is $15!
