Worked for me,

My wireless router is in my office in the basement. When I took my laptop to the first floor the signal strength was "Very Good" or "Good". When I first installed this antenna, it didn't make a difference and I was going to write it off, but I went through the instruction manual. The key to making this antenna work is the way you position it. For example if you keep the antenna vertical as you see in the picture on amazon, it transmits the signal in a horizontal circle. Like a dinner plate set on the dining table. If you are trying to send the signal to other rooms on the same level, this helps. However, it doesnt help if you are trying to send boost the signal to a level above or below the route. You need to position the antenna horizontally, (i.e, parallel to the floor) to send the signal in a vertical circle. My signal strength is now excellent to very good on the first floor and very good to good on the second level with the router in the basement. Hope this helps.

You can connect this to either your router or to your wireless card (assuming it has the type of anntenna you can detach).
In eiher case you can boost your signal around 20% in normal real-world scenarios. If you need more of a boost than that, you may be disappointed by your results. There is no wireless antenna that can really boost more than that. At that point, you should invest in a new wireless router, or buy a 2nd router to extend the range of your current wireless.

We have tried several different solutions for providing an Internet connection to my children's PC. We bought it for them to do their homework on and play games since they were tying up our other two computers (one used for our home based business). The problem was that we live in a very old and big house, making running cable very problematic. The obvious solution was wireless. We went out and bought all of the needed parts (all d-link), but the kid's room was *just* outside the range of the signal. Using the D-Link 2.4GHz Omni-Directional 7dBi Indoor Antenna ( ANT24-0700 ) solved this problem. It also took less than 1 minute to replace the old antenna with this one. This was just what we needed!

Take off the stock antenna that comes with your PCI network card (or router, etc) and plug this in to "see" a whole new world. It comes with a long cable, so you can place this antenna in an optimal location. I went from dropped connections to excellent and solid connections -- all the time. Great job D-Link, this thing delivers as promised.

The D-Link 2.4GHz Omni-Directional 7dBi Indoor Antenna delivers a 15 to 20 percent increase in signal strength from my estimation and based on the particulars of my home layout. That differential is subjective at best and can be affected by solid interferences of substantial density and also by varying distances. In other words, I noticed a slight increase in signal strength based upon my environment. Also, the magnetic base is not necessarily a plus for me personally. Don't get it near your CRT.

I bought this antenna for my DI-624 wireless router to boost the Wireless signal to a few nieghbours who I share my DSL connection with.
It took 4 minutes to open the packaging and about 10 seconds to actually replace the old antenna with the new one. My neighbours used to report the the signal strength was always "very low", now they report that is consistently "good". Another friend with a laptop says he can pick up my signal from further away than he did before I got this antenna. I estimate the outdoor range to be about 120m before and about 200m+ after I got this antenna for my setup. My only advice with the placing is to put it high up as the horizintal broadcast angle is only 24 - 30 degrees.

I bought one of these last night. I have a PC that lives in a corner, and it got 2/3 bars with the stock Netgear antenna on my wireless Netgear PCI card.
I added this antenna, and now I have 5/5 bars and no more dropped signals! Contrary to what was posted in another review, you do NOT necessarily have to upgrade both antennas in your system (router and card) to get good reception. In my case, my reception problem was due to computer antenna location - a corner. The antenna / extension / mount gets the antenna up high and out of the corner a few feet - where it can get the STRONG signal that my router already puts out with its stubby stock antenna. I knew my work area had a good signal because I used my laptop in the same area, and it had 5/5 bars, so it was obviously a problem with the PCI computers antenna location. For $35.00, this solution rocks! It has both SMA and TNC connectors, and I am at 5/5 bars now with no dropped signal. Good job, D-Link! Oh yeah, this is $14.00 cheaper than an upgraded Linksys antenna, plus it comes with a magnetic base and extension cord, and mount screws / drywall anchors for a hard mount! Highly recommended!

I was having WiFi issues in one of my rooms, so I picked up this D-Link for about $[...] after rebate. Bottom line, my problem is gone. Where I used to have 50% signal strength, I now have 80+%. I no longer lose my connection. For me, it was money well spent. I have the antenna mounted on the wall behind my desk, and it's working great.

I live in a house built in the 1920s (thick plaster walls). I use a D-Link DI-624 wireless router with one PC hardwired to the router, 1 PC with a wireless card, one laptop with a wireless card and a Roku wireless music player. With the original antenna on the DI-624, I had good reception on the laptop (usually on the same floor as the router or on the back deck), fair to good on the wireless PC (in the basement office) and fair reception on the Roku. I originally bought one of these antennas and at first used it on the router. The reception on the laptop and Roku improved, but the reception in the basement got worse, often dropping and never getting above poor. I switched the antenna to the wireless card on the basement PC and returned the original antenna to the router and the upstairs reception returned to the previous levels while the basement reception improved drastically to very good. After a few weeks of struggling with the Roku taking forever to load large playlists and sometimes dropping connection, I got a second antenna and attached it to the router again. Now I have great reception on all devices regardless of location.
From reading the various reviews of this and other accessory antennas, it looks like your results will vary from location to location. I think as long as you can return your purchase if it doesn't work for you, you should give one a try.

Disappointed,
This review is from: D-Link ANT24-0700 2.4 GHz Omni-Directional 7 dBi Indoor Antenna (Personal Computers)
I was getting a "poor to good" signal prior to attaching the antenna. Have not noticed much of an improvement. Access point is on 1st floor at one end of house. PC with worst signal that I'm trying to improve on is on second floor other end of house from access point. Wish I could return this but after cost of S&H and insurance, is not cost effective to do so. Chalk it up as a lost.
