The DCM-200 has a maximum downloading speed at 42.88 Mbps (256 QAM) and a maximum uploading speed at 10.2 Mbps (16 QAM). The DCM-200 uses the Reed-Solomon error-correction method for data-packet integrity. For SNMP remote management, the DCM-200 uses MIB II and MCNS MIB. It also comes with four easy-to-read LED indicators to show the connection status of the DCM-200 cable modem.
The DCM-200 is easy to install and is compatible with Windows 95, 98/98 SE, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Mac OS, Unix, and other popular operating systems.
Note: Windows 95, NT4, Mac OS, Unix, and other popular operating systems will work with Ethernet port only.

Change your modem and save some money,
By "slykobe" (STOCKTON, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: D-Link DCM-200 Cable Modem (Personal Computers)
I have att broadband and instead of leasing the modem ... per month, I was thinking, why not purchase a modem, where you can keep it. This modem comes out to be ... after rebate which if you are planning to have broadband for more than 7 months, this would pay for itself. I wish I had done it earlier because I have already paid for 5 months worth for the cable modem, I could have already own the modem. Setting it up was a piece of cake. I simply installed the driver as the instructions said, called at&t and gave them my modem's product number, plugged in my new modem and waalah, my modem was working. This modem comes with USB connection also, but I can't seem to get that to work, but I'm happy with the ethernet connection. Before buying this modem, check your broadband internet company's website to see if it is compatible with their system. Also, I heard that some companies charge you to pick up your old modem, mine said that they didn't but I didn't want to take the chance so I returned it to my local office myself. Also comes with a 5 year warranty, the nice looking linksys one comes with only a 1 year warranty, something to consider.

DCM-200 - Superb,
By William B. Sorsby (Cedar Rapids, IA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: D-Link DCM-200 Cable Modem (Personal Computers)
The DCM-200 modem is the first network device I've ever hooked up that installed flawlessly. Installation took less than five minutes from start to finish and, even more surprising, the DCM-200 is noticeably faster than the modem it replaced, an almost new RCA modem provided by Mediacom. The RCA modem was only a few months old but had been a pain to install (a couple of phone calls over two days). Not so with the DCM-200. Installation couldn't have been easier. I just powered everything down, hooked the DCM-200 up, called Mediacom on the phone, powered everything back up when instructed, opened the browser to the IP address provided by Mediacom and everything else was automatic (except for powering down my PC again). I've got three PC's networked together with a switch/router/firewall and have grown accustomed to spending hours fiddling to get everything to play together properly. It was totally unexpected to have the DCM-200 off and running right out of the chute. Installation of network components just doesn't get any easier than with the DCM-200.The noticeable speed increase I see with the DCM-200 apparently results from less latency in message processing within the modem. Responses from internet sites quite often seem instantaneous, whereas with the earlier RCA modem, responses were most often in the seconds range.

Modem Failed,
By James R. Eckley (Corona, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: D-Link DCM-200 Cable Modem (Personal Computers)
This modem failed 6 times before I returned it to the maker for repair or replacement. It would go out and AT&T techs could not make it work. It would come back in without anyone doing anything. It was intermittent and the problem could not be solved. Since my very frustrating experience with this product I could never trust it again. I have another brand now and it is working much better than the DCM200 ever did. Unhappy in California.
