With an integrated both USB 2.0 and firewire, the DFB-A5 is a 2-port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and 3-port 1394 Firewire combo PCI adapter for desktop computers. The DFB-A5 is designed to work with DV camcorders, mice, keyboards, external CD-R/RW's, external hard drives, PC cameras, and any other USB or Firewire enabled device. It is 40 times faster than previous USB adapters with Hi-Speed USB 2.0 support and supports up to 400Mbps with integrated Firewire in one convenient upgrade package for desktop computers.

Each of the two USB 2.0 ports transfers data at 480Mbps (Megabits per second), making it ideal for external storage, backup, networking and digital video. The DFB-A5 is certified to USB 2.0 standards and is backward compatible with USB 1.0 and USB 1.1.

With the 3-Port Firewire (1394), the DFB-A5's three Firewire ports support transfer rates up to 400Mbps, making it ideal for home video editing using Digital Video (DV) ready camcorders and external storage solutions. With the bundled video editing software, the DFB-A5 offers a complete DV editing package perfect for any home video enthusiast.

This product does not install easily on windows xp. It created conflicts on my machine. It is definitely not "plug and play." I would not purchase this product. D-Link tech support was unwilling to work through conflicts on my device manager. In the process of installation I lost all usb connections entirely.
