3.0 out of 5 stars Good for a basic switcher, May 16, 2005
This review is from: D-Link DKVM-2K 2-Port KVM Switch, Desktop, Built-In Cables (Personal Computers)
I have also encountered the freezing mouse problem (but only on the rare ocassion).

I usually only use one computer at a time (Both running XP Home) but have on occasion used both switching back and forth.

To reduce the need for two monitors, mice and keyboards; I think it is money well spent.

[Edit]
One of my computers was an always powered Mother Board and it would always default to that computer and would have to switch back. This is not a problem with the switch and I did not dock points for that but I am sharing this for your information.

3.0 out of 5 stars Recommended for light use, August 9, 2004
This review is from: D-Link DKVM-2K 2-Port KVM Switch, Desktop, Built-In Cables (Personal Computers)
First, my main gripe. Like most any KVM you're likely to buy, it sometimes can cause 3 button wheel mice to freeze when switching between two active PCs. Just google KVM & mouse to see the joy...

But aside from this, the cabling is well-organized. I've used it to switch between multiple OS's such as Windows 98, XP, and Linux (even though it's not advertised as Linux compatible!). And seems to work well if your main concern is space savings and you don't need both PCs on at the same time.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's cheap for a reason., February 17, 2005
This review is from: D-Link DKVM-2K 2-Port KVM Switch, Desktop, Built-In Cables (Personal Computers)
The price is right on this KVM switch, but that's where it ends. If you switch back and forth between two running PCs and at least one is running WinXP, it won't find the mouse when you return to the WinXP machine. DLink support suggests using a non-scrollwheel mouse (which is a poor fix), but even then, with a standard two-button PS2 mouse, it still won't activate the mouse once you move away from the WinXP box and then return.

Look elsewhere for a KVM switch.
