Searching through all those files can be a chore, so D-Link includes intro scan and a quick access button for three-digit track searches. This combination CD/MP3 player also features a 10-second antiskip buffer that grants some protection against motion-related skips, while its hold switch prevents accidental shutoff or setup change. The LCD displays playback status, program function, and battery life. Playback modes include repeat track or disc, random play, and a 22-track programmable memory.
Compatible with the MP3 standard, the DMP-CD100 supports bit-rates from 32 Kbps to 320 Kbps. Its design includes a 1-bit digital-to-analog audio converter with an integrated digital filter, producing eight times oversampling playback for high-quality audio output.
The DMP-CD100 features two stereo outputs, allowing you to connect it to an external audio component. D-link also includes earphones and an AC adapter. This unit runs on two AA alkaline or rechargeable ni-cad batteries. It's backed by a one-year parts-and-labor warranty.

Mediocre purchase at best,

This review is from: D-Link DMP-CD100 CD and Recorded MP3 Player (Electronics)
I bought this unit at a Circuit City about two months ago, and I'm sending it back this week. The best thing I can say about this player is that it's cheaper than the others. The faults with the CD100 are many: there is no search function, so in order to skip songs you have to hit the forward button endlessly. The sound quality is awful: on the MP3 CD I recorded, notes were distorted and wavered constantly, and there was static in the background. Many of the tracks on the CD refused to play, or played in a stop-and-start manner. When I tested the CD out in a freind's Memorex unit, it worked without a hitch. Some other minor problems: the case is ugly, the buttons are unresponsive, loading even a regular CD can take 15 or 20 seconds, and the shock protection is oddly sketchy. And plan to spend a lot on batteries: the most hardy pair I used in this player died after three-quarters of a swimming meet. If you want a good MP3-CD player, stick to the Memorex or Philips. Either one is much better and worth the extra price. D-Link clearly has a ways to go before it gets audio devices right.

This review is from: D-Link DMP-CD100 CD and Recorded MP3 Player (Electronics)
I was originally looking for just a standard CD player. I noticed this gem which plays MP3's and decided to try it out. It works quite well. I burned a disc with 124 MP3's scattered into various folders, popped it in, and was listening to music several seconds later. I researched the product before i bought it and had read several reviews saying that the product "skipped frequently" and had "a poor laser which wouldn't read cheap discs". To test this, I bought the cheapest discs I could find and burned my MP3's onto them. No problem. In addition, skipping is minimal in MP3 play, though standard CD play benefits from the ESP (shock protection) the player provides. Several reviewers complained about a delay while MP3 discs were being read into memory, but this was actually quite fast. If you want a portable MP3 player which will handle your audio CD's, pick this up. The ability to play carry around 10 hours of music in a small package will not disappoint you. My two complaints; the unit includes an internal NiCAD battery charger, but it only ships with Alkaline batteries. Also, the earbud headphones it ships with are subpar; I use a pair of Sony headphones with it.

I also bought one of these ... It is cheaply made and gotexactly 1-hour of play on a fresh set of batteries. When I calledD-Link for an explanation, there answer was "Yeah, that's aboutwhat you'll get". No wonder it is so deeply discounted, they'retrying to pass off their mistake on you! I took it back after severaldisappointing days.
