5.0 out of 5 stars Good value for money and acceptable quality
The main drawbacks of this camera are:
1) only 700,000 pixel resolution
2) manual focus
3) no flash
4) no LCD screen
for 1), well, if you want more you'll have to pay commensurately more for it... but the quality at this resolution is absolutely fine for the computer. In fact, much more and it's a pain to e-mail as the file size gets too big. It...

I had great hopes for this camera, but none where fulfilled, except for the great price. I got this camera and immediately began to use it. It holds an incredible amount of pictures, but the problem is with the quality of the pictures. The quality is terrible. I took over 100 pictures with this camera at all resolutions and the pictures were incredibly blurry. Only about 10, out of the 100 plus pictures, were ok quality (not very good quality at that). It takes forever for this camera to be ready to even take the pictures and it is temperamental about taking pictures after that. The camera took picture very sporadically. The web cam feature is bad as well. It came in very choppy. ...

It has great focus (I took a photo of my pet rat about 1 inch from her face and it came out great), and you can recognise the people in the photos - what more do you want from a fun snappy camera?
2) manual focus is not a big deal, it has guidelines for distance on the lens when you turn it so as long as you can judge the difference between 0.5m and 1.5m it's easy. The software can sharpen up unfocussed pictures pretty well too.
3) no flash is not so great, but at least the batteries last longer.
4) People think it's terrible not having an LCD screen, but it's no different from an ordinary camera! You really need a screen when there is no memory so you can clear out the bad photos and not waste what limited space you have. This camera has a whopping 8mB of memory which means it can store 145-200 pictures so you can snap away and dump whatever you don't want when you download it onto the PC

Overall I found it fun, easy to use, easy to download the pictures once you get used to it and very fun to manipulate them and change the colours. All my friends have new portraits now! I will be buying one for my sister and also my parents for Christmas...

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the Best out there but it gets the Job Done, August 13, 2001
This review is from: D-Link DSC-350 8MB Dual Mode Digital Web Camera (Personal Computers)
I have had this for about 2 weeks now and can't complain. I mean it has it's downsides, but I don't need to take pictures to print out or any close ups of flowers or anything like that. I use it on trips, I take pictures of my friends and family and come home to keep those pictures on my computer. And everyonce and a while i will use the camera for a netmeeting chat with a friend.

It works and it is not [price] or more. And it doubles as a Webcam. It doesn't get much more convienent.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great potential that needs development, March 15, 2001
This review is from: D-Link DSC-350 8MB Dual Mode Digital Web Camera (Personal Computers)
This is the Brownie of the digital cameras. If you know exactly what this camera is capable of, you can get good pictures, but not great ones. The picture capacity, was the main selling feature I was interested in. I would recommend waiting for D-link to come out with DSC-450 or 500 with a flash shoe, better lens( maybe a zoom ), and better light sensing electronics.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Fully Functional, October 14, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: D-Link DSC-350 8MB Dual Mode Digital Web Camera (Personal Computers)
The DSC-350 took great still shots despite the fact that it needed a lot of light. Unfortunately, when I tried to set it up as a webcam I encountered a lot of problems with the driver installation. The driver that comes with the cam does not work in WinME; and the driver available for download at the D-Link website is no better (in fact, it's the same driver). The available patch did not help, either. D-Link tech support could offer no answers.

1.0 out of 5 stars d-link digital camera, May 27, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: D-Link DSC-350 8MB Dual Mode Digital Web Camera (Personal Computers)
I ordered this camera last October. I tried to load the driver on my PC, and it just wouldn't set up right. I don't know if others had this problem or not...apparently not the other people who reviewed this camera. At first I thought it was a problem with the camera, so I sent the first one back, and got another, but I still couldn't get the driver to load.

This camera works nicely in very well lit rooms. But in my office with all the lights turned on, I could not use it as a web cam, it simply would not take pictures in regular room light. Plus many of my daylight images came out fuzzy. I have a 3 year old QuickCam VC, and it's image quality is much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal First Digital Camera, December 8, 2002

This review is from: D-Link DSC-350 8MB Dual Mode Digital Web Camera (Personal Computers)
This is my first digital camera, and for the money, I am amazed at what it can do, and I have barely scratched the surface. I have e-mailed pictures to relatives and have had several comments on their clarity and sharpness. One comment came from my son who asked, "What kind of a camera do you have, the pictures are great." When I told him, he said that the pictures were a lot better than his $500.00 Kodak's. My D-Link came with Photo Suite III SE and Video Wave III SF software. They work great with my camera and and easy to use.

This camera was really good. First of all the price of this was UNBELIEVABLE. IT WAS A BARGAIN. You can even video record with this camera. Also it is very easy to use all you have to do is plug the wires in and run the program they give you. BEST THING OUT THERE. U SHOULD GET IT!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Go dual use of webcam and camera, November 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: D-Link DSC-350 8MB Dual Mode Digital Web Camera (Personal Computers)
IT is my first digital camera with webcam and really appreciated the dual use of webcm and camera. Very useful but the only drawback is the quality of the image is so-so. But with this price and dual functions, it is great!
