Style Name: Smart Plug + Thermal Protection Verified Purchase
I bought these on a lark. I can live without them, but I thought I'd give them a try. I connected one to a lamp in my Family Room, and another to a lamp over my computer in my office.

The set up was pretty easy until I tried updating the firmware. Whether using the Android app (Nexus 5) or the IOS (iPad Air) the firmware update just wouldn't take. I tired using Chat, but it wanted a cookie. I then tired emailing, but that failed to work. I called and spoke to someone in Manila. Hard to understand and after an hour of doing what she said to do, she said I'd need to be elevated. She said I'd get a call the next day. Two days later, I got a call from D-Link. I picked up after two rings, and it hung up. I haven't heard from them since.

As for the usefulness, it works fine controlling those two lamps once the connection has been established. Upon starting the lamp it takes about 20 seconds to connect; not very useful for a on the fly light switch.

It also worked when I was away from my home. I turned on the lamp in my office while across town, and sure enough when I got home it was on. I can see the usefulness when out of town and want to turn on and off lighting to make it appear the home is occupied.

As soon as I can figure out where to put another, I'll order one again...

Style Name: Smart Motion Sensor Verified Purchase
Seems like a solid, well built device. Connected to my network easily. It does register motion events via the IOS app, but...as other reviewers have mentioned-no push notifications yet. Hopefully they will get this fixed soon, but for now, 2 stars. I'll update when/if this changes. Given the quality of other D-Link products, I fully expect they'll fix this. Odd that they'd release a product that was obviously not quite ready.

Update-7/17/14. Despite making contact with DLink via their review comment, I never heard from them again. Interesting-considering the promise of "compensation" for our help. Anyway-it does seem as though they've managed to fix the notification issue. The alert pops up pretty quickly when at home on the network, as well as when away via 4G(IOS). After re-enabling the notifications on the app, the messages were only coming up via the home network-not via 4G. However after a short time, they started working as well. And they appear surprisingly quick. Also-they mention the ability to receive notifications via text, however I have not been able to locate any area to store a mobile number. Perhaps its on the Android app.

One thing I also noticed is that the time between notifications is basically undefined. I imagine there is a fixed delay between notifications, but its not written anywhere that I can find. While I don't really see a need to adjust the notification timing, it would be nice to at least know how long that delay is.

So-I'll give it a little more time to test the reliability of the notifications. If all goes well, I'll add that last star.

Update-7/20/14 iOS app throughout the day spits out "disconnected" notifications from the device. Then perhaps a few hours later, "reconnected" pops up.

I give this product two stars right now for the following reasons. 1. It's intended use is very helpful. 2. The tech support tried to assist me on the phone. The product is so new that even tech-support does not know anything about it. I'm surprised they would release a product without properly testing it. It connects easily to the Wi-Fi router and network. Like Brett east said (and his review is spot on) you have to manually open the mydlink home app and check for motion detection. Once they get this product open working it will be a winner. I have tried the app both on iOS and Google. Both with the same result. I was able to see the DCH-S150 on the computer mydlink website so I know I set it up correctly. This is going to be a wait and see project. Dlink did call me back requesting screen shots of my iphone. The design is very nice the sensor can be very sensitive or not sensitive at all. Once dlink figures out how to send push notifications all will be well with this thing. I will update my review upon any changes in the app.

July 11- I noticed a 5 star review last night on this item so I figured D-Link has updated the mydlink home app. All I had to do is go back into the mydlink home app and go to the my actions part and put back in the rule stating I want to be notified when there is motion detected on the DCH-S150. Once I put the new rule in, the app works as advertised. You can set the sensitivity and also turn on and off the notifications so if you are home you are not bothered every time a family member passes the sensor. It now works they way it was supposed to.

Oct 8. I bought a second sensor for my bedroom as robbers always hit up the master bedroom. This sensor worked perfect right away.

---Update 5-23-2014----------
The plugs were able to update today. Dlink fixed it after I went to their support forum. I'm mostly satisfied with the plugs now. The lack of web portal functionality and the inability for this thing to figure out DST in your timezone are still some minor issues. But once they are up and going, they've been consistent in operation for the last week and some of the issues with tablet vs Phone android devices have shaken out.

Also, if you notice in the comments of this review, DLink support offered help, but after I filled in the form they gave me, no one followed up with me. I had better luck using the support forum setup for the smartplugs specifically and getting a dlink response to fix the update problem.

Overall some of my problems are probably just because I bought these at release, but there's plenty of functionality in these for just an outlet. as soon as they fix the DST thing and offer web portal functionality instead of the app, it'll be pretty close to 5 star rating.

Bought three of these recently.

The interface is good, but works inconsistently on my different android devices. I can see that they want to make this more like the NEST learning thermostat, but there's a lot of bugs in the android app. I don't think the plugs themselves are the problem since the cloud portal seems to connect to them no problem. I guess this is one issue being an early adopter.

When I first got the plugs, I plugged them in and fired up the app on my phone(HTC one M8). weirdly, it let me setup the plug, but refused to let me register for a new DLINK cloud account and there's no way to register outside the app.
