Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The D-Link HD MediaBridge Coax Network Starter Kit (DXN-221) is a simple solution for enabling network access by utilizing your home’s existing coaxial (cable) wiring. The HD MediaBridge kit includes two HD MediaBridge Coax Network Adapters (DXN-220), each with an Ethernet port and a coaxial connector to easily connect to available coaxial outlets. The HD MediaBridge Coax Adapter is a Coax-to-Ethernet bridge and comes with one Coax F-type connector and one Ethernet RJ-45 connector.

Simply connect one HD MediaBridge Coax Adapter to a router using the provided Ethernet cable to establish a network connection and to an available coaxial outlet in the room to access your home coaxial wiring. Then add the second HD MediaBridge Coax Adapter in another room to connect a PC or other Ethernet-ready device (such as Game Consoles, Media Players, Blu-ray Disc Players, etc.) to the network.

The HD MediaBridge Coax kit is designed to deliver a faster and more reliable stream of High-Definition, quality entertainment seamlessly across your home. Easily connect gaming consoles like Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to the Internet through the HD MediaBridge kit to enjoy intense online gaming.

The HD MediaBridge Coax Network Starter Kit provides data encryption with password protection to establish a secure connection to help keep your data safe from unauthorized access. This kit includes two HD MediaBridge Coax Network adapters that can be easily setup to create a reliable high-speed connection to the Internet throughout multiple rooms in your home. The adapters utilize the unused bandwidth of your home existing coaxial wiring so no professional installation is required.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works but, March 13, 2010
This review is from: D-Link DXN-221 MoCa Coax Ethernet Adapter Kit (Personal Computers)
Works as I wanted. Plug and play on coax that carries TV and cable modem.

What doesn't work is their configuration utility software for windows. Fortunately I didn't need it- just plug and play.
Tech support at level 1 and then level 2 was incredibly ignorant; no, make that totally unprepared and both had bad ESL issues. Level 3 wants to call.

Hopefully I'll never need the utility.

Timely received, easily installed, connected immediately, basically plug-and-play. Couldn't ask for it to be better. Why did it take so long to have this product available? Especially good for larger homes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Works after lots of setup effort, December 17, 2009

This review is from: D-Link DXN-221 MoCa Coax Ethernet Adapter Kit (Personal Computers)
I just spent a day tearing my hair out trying to get these devices to work. I had my coax from the wall into a 2-way splitter and then onto a DXN-220 on one branch and my cable modem on the other. Every time I connected in the DXN-220, or switched from config to moca on the DXN-220, the cable modem would drop out and my internet connection was lost.

[...]

When I connected the coax from the wall to the DXN-220's coax in/out and then the TV out from the DXN-220 to the cable modem, they work just fine.

I did not need the suggested Channel Vision C-0314 1 In 4 Out Amplified Splitter.

D-link support were no help and I was passed from pillar to post through their system with many disconnections. I was on the phone for literally hours hanging on waiting for another rep asking the same questions.

I also could not get the configuration utility to work until I added the utility program to my anti-virus (Trend) firewall allowable programs list. However, it wasn't any help since there's not much to configure!

Anyway, I was just about to send it back for a refund when I found the post mentioned above, so thanks to that guy whoever he is.

Can I recommend these, only if you're prepared to work at the installation. There are others by Netgear and Gifen, maybe their instructions are clearer or their support more helpful, I can't say. Once working they are better than wireless and ethernet over powerline.
