DHP-601AV Installation:
- Plugged first DHP-600AV into wall and connected to router via Cat.5e cable
- Plugged second DHP-600AV into wall and connected to blu-ray player via Cat.5e cable

At this point my blu-ray player could connect to the internet and play Netflix. After testing it was working, I decided to secure the network with the 128-bit AES encryption that is part of the DHP-600AV devices. I pressed the button next to the Ethernet port for 4 seconds (2 seconds minimum) and then went to the other device and pressed it for the same time ( this step has to be done within 2 min.). If you hold this same button too long (> 10 seconds) it will perform a reset. Now I am completely setup and secure.

Experience:
I did like that the two prong plug on the DHP-600AV let me install the device on the bottom outlet with room to use the outlet above. I plugged the other DHP-600AV in upside down so the I could use the bottom outlet. I had to do this as the cable's pug on my surge protector was molded to be flat and guided the cable directly down.

The only con I have is the included 2 Cat.5e cables were only 3', so I had to trade these short cables with my other devices that had longer cables (6' would be preferred).

One of the benefits of modern technology is video streaming methods based on personal preferences and not pre-programmed approaches. The goal of all of us, is simple to describe: the best quality at the lowest price for information transfer AND the easiest installation into the home without "professional installation."

For my family, I had intermittent reception for internal wireless capability about Internet streaming purposes. No matter about the strength of the wireless router and various add-on wireless boosters caused a change of perspective for myself: that wireless technology is not up to the requirements of HD or HDX . So, I purchased one of these D-Link units just for "kicks" as my wife suggested that I was not worthy of publick comment.

The stuff just works

These D-Link units just plug into an 120VAC electrical wall socket in the home and seamlessly operate as suggested by interconnecting to your router.

Very impressive technology.

Robert

My wifi router is in one upstairs corner of the house and the tv is in the opposite corner downstairs. I could get a wifi connection there, but often got timeout/buffering issues when attempting to steam video over wifi. This setup works great. Just plugged on little box in next to the router via. ethernet and the other in to the wall by the tv and connected a ethernet cable from the tv to the box. No more dropouts or buffering. Setup is simple too. I've been using them for about a month now and no problems at all. I was skeptical that something that works via. the in-house electric system would actually work, but I've been pleasantly surprised at how well this little setup works.

I had an older PowerLine AV setup in place, but since I was planning to upgrade my cable internet speed, I wanted to support the speed with the latest generation AV2 parts. They advertise a theoretical speed of 600mbps, well above my new 105mbps internet speed. I knew I could not expect 600, but hoped I'd be good for 105. No such luck. I average 45-50mbps throughput. Better than the 28 I was getting on the original AV hardware, but not the 105 I hoped for. Still, it works, it's reliable, it's extremely simple. I am not ecstatic, but I am happy.

I used it to extend my internet access to a distant corner of the house. Wifi can't get there, but this does the trick.

It works great in my house. I have a 500 series model and is not compatible with that model. So the question is do I want to invest more money in powerline adapters or do I want to go with MOCA?

Other reviews have indicated some issues if the two adapters are not on the same circuit. I did not have any such problems, although I did need to use an outlet away from the one my cable modem was plugged into. Once I found a different outlet, I plugged in the second adapter, which worked as expected, and I have been able to enjoy much faster speeds than I had with an older Powerline adapter. This is based on the elimination of buffering when streaming a video feed, even at HD quality. My overall assessment is that if you find compatible circuits, you will see good ethernet speeds. I have seen some information suggesting that adapters need only to be on the same phase, not necessarily the same circuit, so some experimentation may be appropriate before you give up. But it seems that when it works, it works very well.

I had hoped for good throughput speeds as advertised. I connected them to the same receptacle and pushed the connect button since that is supposed to give you the best connection. I then moved one to the room where I intended to use it. It connected easily but my download speeds weren't as fast as wireless. Upload speeds are ok, but download is less than I wanted for online gaming. I know it says it depends on your wiring, but my house is only 20 years old and was all wired to code with copper. They are on separate circuits which is to be expected in a house wired to code. I hop no one has a house all on one circuit. These will give you a connection, but it may not be as good as you want.
