5.0 out of 5 stars Replaced my Linksys beastie with this little wonder...
I was having some problems with my Linksys Vonage box in that I was getting random, and quite frequent line goes dead in the middle of a conversation. I decided to try this unit as it was quite inexpensive and the rest of my hardware is already D-Link. So, I switched out the Linksys and in with the D-Link and we've not had any dropped calls since.

Its nice...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not work with 2-line Panasonic cordless
Doesn't work with my Panasonic 2-line cordless phone.

When the adapter is connected to line 2, that line is always shown as being in use. And there is a loud 60Hz power-line hum noise when you use line 1 as a conventional phone.

The Vonage part of it works well. There is some echo on occasion but I understand that that is normal and was...

Its nice that it is small/compact and doesn't take up much space and the wall wart AC adapter is smaller than what it replaced. Hope this one lasts longer than the Linksys box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Basic, but reliable connectivity., December 1, 2006
This review is from: D-Link VTA-VR Broadband Telephone Adapter with Vonage (Personal Computers)
I've had the D-Link VTA-VR VoIP adapter for about 6 months now.

The big thing this adapter has going for it is size. Barely bigger than a pack of smokes, it packs a full dual-line VoIP capability. The ports on the back are line 1, line 2, ethernet, and power. What more do you need? A built-in ethernet switch might be handy, but would add size and weight, which I don't need either of.

As for Vonage's customer service; I have yet to talk to a human! Everything can be accomplished through their website, including checking voicemail, adding a second line, and setting up an email notification when you get a voicemail. I have yet to run into an issue that couldn't be handled easily, by myself, over their website.

The sound quality on this is no better or worse than a POTS line (plain old phone service) (what you'd get from a landline carrier). Calls are placed and received reliably, and there is no problem using my cordless phone and Fax machine over the VoIP system.

No more long-distance fees, portability (my number can go with me wherever there's an ethernet drop), and a very useful customer-service website... what more could you ask for?

This was a recommended router by Vonage, with whom I've been a customer for almost five years. I had an outdated phone converter and needed to buy a replacement unit. I bought this online, followed the simple instructions on the box - since I already had a Vonage account there was no new setup - and voila, two minutes later I had a dial tone. How nice.

This just works, although it should be noted that the second port is for a second line *only*, it cannot be used to hook up a second telephone set to the same line (like a fax machine) - for that you will need a cheap splitter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vonage Adapter Review, February 21, 2010
This review is from: D-Link VTA-VR Broadband Telephone Adapter with Vonage (Personal Computers)
I recently bought a new wireless router that had more power, but would not accommodate my Vonage phone service. I saw this product, it seemed like it would work, and I bought it, set it up, and wow! It solved my problem, and everything works great now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Small and simple, March 30, 2009

I have had Vonage service for over 3 years using this adapter. The setup is simple, just plug it to your internet connection and plug the phone to it. If you have a firewall you may need to setup your software to allow the adapter to access the internet(basic setting for a firewall).

The unit is small, does not have any special switches or antennas so you can really fit it anywhere.

I am very happy with my Vonage service. The $25 unlimited plan is cheaper than my broadband provider's plan and it won't increase after 12 months. Furthermore, the international call rates are much lower and calls are free to some countries in Europe

Reliability has been good. If for some reason the line goes dead, the calls get automatically forwarded to my cellphone. This rarely happens, to fix it, I need to unplug it for a seconds and the unit will reset automatically. My guess is that this happens because of problems with my broadband provider and not because of Vonage itself.

Plugged it in and it worked. Sound quality is great. What more could you ask for? It's also very small, which is a big plus on my small desk.

This is a great device! I use it at my home and then pack it up to travel sometimes,as I have a place in Mexico that has a wireless modem and router and I can plug it into that.... it does not work for hotels but all in all it is great and reliable. It works well with all phone systems, I use it on a Panasonic and a Motorola wirelss system with 4 recievers and they both work fine.

When my Vonage router died, they reccomended this one. The price was right, the supplier shipped it same day - and after a few minutes of hooking it into my system - I had a dial tone. Awesome !

Installation was super easy. Works faster and better than the original Linksys Router that came with my new Vonage service couple of years ago. And it takes up 1/3 of the space. Highly recommend.
