The main unit (model UD-M31) boasts 22 watts per channel stereo power into 6-ohm speakers like the supplied pair. Dual stereo analog auxiliary inputs facilitate hookup of additional components, whether a DVD player, a MP3 player, or Denon's matching DRR-M31 silver cassette deck. For additional convenience, a stereo analog output and optical digital-audio jack let you record radio broadcasts or CD sound to cassette or to a standalone CD or minidisc recorder. And, in case you hear heftier bass response in your future, there's a monaural RCA output for an external powered or passive subwoofer. The UD-M31's silver aluminum front panel derives a little extra sheen from its half-mirrored display.
The included speakers (model SC-U51) use 5-inch woofers and 1-inch soft-dome tweeters and are finished in light cherry wood. Their ported design grants a little deeper low-end response (down to a respectable 75 Hz), while their quality components extend high-frequency response out to an impressive 35 kHz, well beyond the range of sound on standard compact discs--you're SACD-ready with this system (an SACD-playing source component is optional).
Other features include 40 FM/AM station presets, SDB (Super Dynamic Bass) equalization, a 24-hour clock, a sleep timer, and a .125-inch headphone jack for private listening. The system comes with a remote control that also operates the basic functions of the optional DRR-M31 cassette deck.
What's in the Box
Central amplifier/CD/tuner unit, two speakers, remote control, remote batteries, user's manual, and warranty/registration information.

Good sound from nice looking system,
This review is from: Denon D-M31S Compact High-Fidelity Stereo (Silver) (Electronics)
The Denon D31S is a solid micro stereo system that sounds good, looks nice and is a tremendous value. Note that the speakers are rebranded Mission bookshelf speakers, and provide a bright, natural sound. While a lot of reviews of Mission state that they are better for classical music, I think that they work great for rock, as well. The bass is surprisingly good for a system this small, and the amp does provide enough power to fill even a largist room. Overall, this system totally met my expectations and is a great value.
