Seems to work well so far,

Our cat has been a chewer since she was a kitten. She will chew on about anything.. cardboard boxes, plastic or paper bags, etc.. But the most worrisome thing was the cords. It's pretty easy to keep most dangerous things away from her. But electrical cords are sometimes hard to tuck away if the outlets aren't behind furniture. I thought the Crittercord would be worth a try, figuring that even if she doesn't completely quit chewing on the cords, at least she will only be chewing on the plastic cover and not the actual cord that has electrical currents flowing through it. Well, so far, it really seems to be doing the trick. The first place I applied the crittercord was to one of her favorite cords - under the desk in the office. I watched as she approached that cord a few minutes later. She walked under the desk slowly, sniffed the area, and then she actually backpedaled her way out from under the desk. Apparently the infused citrus scent really does work, at least for now. She has since ventured back under the desk, but doesn't seem to bother that cord at all anymore. We've been putting this stuff on all the exposed cords around the house. You can just cut the crittercord with scissors to the length that you need. And because it's clear, it doesn't look any different from just having the bare cord showing. It's a really simple, inexpensive solution to a stressful problem.

The best cord protectors out there!,
This review is from: Crittercord (Misc.)
I use these with my two bunnies and they work great. My buns are hardcore wire-chewing machines, and this is the only cord protector they have truly stayed away from. I've used other cord "covers" that are marketed towards keeping your wires organized, and the bunnies chew right through them. I put the critter cord on a few lamp wires and they didn't even sniff them. Nothing has worked for me as well as these do! BTW, my bunnies are as bratty as they come...not even chew deterent spray has worked, so this truly is a great product. They are pretty small though, so you can't wrap up more than two regular sized cords in them at once.

Smells awful and doesn't work,

Wish this worked but sorry it didn't. First of all the smell is like a pesticide with orange. My kittens still bit it and then proceeded to vomit. Seems toxic to me. I went to Home Depot and bought a accordian like protector sleeve and this works better. It only cost 1.99.

unfortunately from the moment we took it out of the box the smell made us nauseous. "citrus scent" indeed - it smells like insecticide. And it permeated the house during the day especially when it was warm. Hoped it would fade after a while but no.the cord protector looked to be of good quality and the reviews were great, so we may just be oversensitive; if you are sensitive to smells be forewarned.

By Julie (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews

Well one of my kitties has taken to only eating my laptop power cord and I have now gone through 2! AHHH! I heard about the crittercord and thought it sounded like exactly what I need. We have had it for over a month and no bite marks! I think it was a fantastic purchase and highly recommend it to everyone with critters that like to chew cords!

The Smell is Bad, But the Product Works,

It's true this product has an unusual odor some may find offensive, but if you have a pet who enjoys chewing cords, this is the product for you. I've purchased other cord covers without the "scent" only to find my cat idly gnawing on them when I'm not looking. After having to buy two laptop power cords (over $100 each) I decided something had to be done. The smell does dissipate with time but is quite annoying initially. I gave this product a five star rating, however, because it did the job regardless of the way it smelled.

Critter cords,

They don't work for my rabbit. He licks them to death, he has chewed, and digested the plastic right through to the cord they are supposed to protect, he seems attracted to them even, and won't leave them alone!!!

smells bad,

The cord cover helped protect my cord, since my puppy pulled it off so that he could chew it. The taste didn't phase him at all (he's also indifferent to bitter apple spray). I suppose if he had left it on the cord, it would have provided some measure of protection. I, however, found the smell of the cord protector so overpowering and awful that I couldn't bear to have the thing in my house and ended up throwing it away about 2 days after I bought it.

Smell should be described as "citrus skunk",
By GT (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews

I bought this product after reading several reviews here. There seem to be two different types of reviews: (1) the product works great, or (2) the product stinks. I hoped that meant not everyone noticed the smell.Fast forward to today. I've had the product for 1-2 weeks, and it's now in the garbage. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH THE STRENGTH AND UNPLEASANTNESS OF THIS PRODUCT'S ODOR. I tried putting it in a very large, open, airy room and the smell was overpowering. I put it outside for a few days, hoping it would dissipate, but didn't notice any improvement after bringing it inside again. It is not an exaggeration to say that it made my head and throat hurt to be in the same room. The bottom line is that the product didn't protect my cords because I can't stand to have it indoors. It seems to me that with the width of the tube and the thickness, it would probably work well enough without any scent (except maybe for the most determined chewers). I'm going to focus my efforts on finding a plain, unscented tube that can fill the same purpose. Unless you have no sense of smell, I highly recommend you do the same.

Keeps my cat away,

It was very hard for me to get my cat to stop chewing on cords. I rearranged furniture in front of them, put paper towel rolls on them, and tried putting anti biting spray on them. The crittercord has worked very well so far. My cat has not even tried to bite the cords. The smell was a bit strong at first and smelled like cleaner, but it does not seem to be so bad now.
