Sunshine music from Cape Verde,

This album makes me happy every time I listen to it. Special recommendations: "Falso Testemunho", "Novo Olhar", "Nesosofre".The songs I like most are the sambas. Maria Alice differs from the other Cape Verde female vocalists I know of (Fantchia and Cesaria Evora) in that she seems to lean toward samba (with some salsa syncopation) rather than tango and fado. So the mood is more major-key and, well, just plain happy.

I only wish I spoke Portuguese, she has a such an evocative voice and the rythym is compelling. my favourites would be Soi Na Tchada and Falso Testemunho but that is a tough choice!
