Makes Clean Cuts in a Wide Variety of Wood
Achieving premium results when performing any kind of woodworking is all about clean, accurate cuts. The Freud D1040X makes this process easy, fast, and precise. An added time-saving feature, its general-purpose versatility will let you employ it job after job. This blade is even suited to making rip cuts, often achieving a smoother finish than dedicated ripping blades.

Contractors, construction workers, and avid do-it-yourselfers will want to keep this blade on hand for varying jobs that call for making rips and crosscuts in both hardwoods and softwoods. Appropriate application materials include oak, pine, plywood, pressure-treated lumber, and beams.

Produces Smooth, Quiet Cuts with Laser-Cut Kerf
The Freud D1040X's clean-cutting design means that you can enjoy the comfort of smooth performance. The thin 0.98-inch kerf between the blade's 40 ATB (alternate-top bevel) teeth is laser cut to provide ease of feed, so you have more control over the blade's position. This helps maximize both the accuracy of the cut and the efficiency of your work, so you enjoy a job well done and the ability to complete more tasks in less time.

An added bonus, the blade's laser-cut stabilizer vents reduce noise and vibration during operation, keeping your work environment more relaxed and your hands more in control. This feature also reduces friction and warping, helping to extend the blade's cutting life.

Features Shock-Resistant Carbide for Long-Lasting Precision
So you can count on it over the long term, the Freud D1040X is designed for durability. The blade's hardy teeth are protected by Freud's exclusive shock-resistant TiCo Hi-Density Carbide formula, which helps fight wear and tear and maintains blade sharpness up to four times longer than standard carbide. And protecting the blade is Perma-Shield Non-Stick Coating that provides resistance to heat and corrosion.

Fits Miter and Table Saws
The Freud D1040X is a great addition to your workshop because it's designed with the versatility to fit a variety of table and miter saws, including sliding miter saws.

This product is covered by Freud's Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Good blade for the price. Used in a 10" Rigid contractor's table saw, produces smooth rips and crosscuts in poplar, pine, MDF, and red oak with minimal tear out. Definitely cleaner than OEM Rigid blade, closs to Freud/Rigid topline blades if you don't force the cut and take your time. Would definitely buy again.

You really have no idea how much of a difference a good quality saw blade makes till you step up and make the purchase! I stuck with the crummy 24T blade that came with my table saw and got plenty of good work done with it. But I finally decided to try one of the diablo blades. I was stunned by the difference! This blade cut through wood so quietly it literally almost turned into a safety incident! After installing the blade I went to make a test cut on some scrap 1x2. I pushed the scrap forward and at the point that I would normally "hear" the cut there was nothing so I figured something was wrong. I pulled the scrap back only to realize the blade had already cut a quarter into the scrap. It was that quiet! And everyone's assertions are right on the money. This blade cuts so cleanly it almost feels like it's been sanded to 180grit. The only "complaint" I would have is that every now and then a touch of the red rubs off on the stock. But hey, it's really cool to just have a red sawblade right?!?!? :D

I installed this blade on a used table saw today and man I can't believe what I was missing!! The old blade was obviously worn out, but this new blade cut through 1x12 on a 7' rip with little effort. The cut was clean and smooth with minimal saw marks. I also did a few cross cuts and those were finish-quality! All from a 40t blade - this has to be the best combination blade out there for the money.

I read the great reviews and had high expectations -- this blade is amazing! I first noticed the design: 1)right behind each tooth is a little tip to help clear out the cut; 2)laser cut expansion slots; 3)three laser cut anti-vibration stabilizer vents -- seems to be a well engineered design.
Then I put the blade on my chop saw. When I pulled the trigger I noticed that, even free spinning, it was significantly quieter than my old blade - then when I did a test cut in a 2x4, I was amazed -- the sound hardly changed (I could hardly tell it was cutting) -- the cut was effortless and even though this is just a 40-tooth general purpose blade, there was virtually no tear-out -- exceptionally smooth cut. I promptly ordered another one for my table saw.

Cuts perfect and last for an extremely long time. We use Freud exclusively in our shop. Best blades on the market. Only thing I would change would be to make them without the red paint. It sometimes transfers to the material that is being cut and has to be sanded off. On the other hand, the red blades look cool. This 40 tooth cuts better than other brands with 90+ tooth blades. Excellent!!!

Great all purpose blade. Sharp and clean cutting. Tested it by making an end grain maple cutting board entirely on the table saw, in combination with my sled, it cut this maple like butter. No burns to speak of, and very clean cuts.

I probably would classify myself as an intermediate wood worker. I am definitely not a cabinet maker. That being said, I do require the tools that I do use to work well for the purpose they are intended. What I do require in a circular saw blade is sharpness, perfect balance and (wobble) free. You may say I have an intolerance for a circular saw blade that wobbles!

I first saw this Freud blade in a relative's shop. I noticed that it ran perfectly true in roundness and was wobble free. I said if I can get one just like it that runs that smooth--That's for me; So I ordered it from Amazon. I think Homedepot also carries the Freud line, but at the time Amazon was offering it very competitavely and shipping free.

I was not disappointed. I frequently refer to a high RPM tool that has precision built in as--running like a Jet engine---all you hear is a smooth whistling sound, and when you watch it going through a cut or just running free there is no (wobble). With (no wobble) and 40 teeth the (general purpose) gives a surprisingly smooth cut and yet rips well too. If Freud is making all their blades to this standard of excellence they are doing everything right in my book, and at the right price.

Very happy with this purchase. I have the Forrest WWII and have been very happy with it, but I think I am now a Freud user going forward. My WWII had started to dull and while I shipped it off to be sharpened, I decided to spring for the D1040X. I had read several reviews on the Diablo series of blades and thought it sounded like it was worth a shot for $30.
I was very happy with the decision. The D1040X has withstood a beating and continues to be razor sharp months later. I've done several projects with some very hard, dense woods, including a vanity out of hickory and a crib out of walnut and this blade hasn't once been anything except awesome. Cross and rip cuts have been crisp and tear out has been minimal.
When my WWII is sharp, it performs similarly to the Diablo in those applications, but the differentiator for me and the thing that has impressed me the most about this blade is the stability. The chatter from this blade is nearly non-existent.
When ripping thin strips or cutting chamfers, I have always had lots of chatter to clean up (even when my WWII is sharp), but this Diablo blade has really outperformed the WWII in that area.
I will continue to use my WWII regularly, but I suspect I will be using these Freud blades as my "primary" blades going forward.
