This review is from: DAKINE 2 oz. High Octane Rub On Wax (Sports)
Picked this up this past season to try out and it's alright for the price. I used an iron to apply a good layer of it for better results. Rub on application takes A LOT of ELBOW GREASE(the idea is to use the cork pad and buff the wax with friction to create heat allowing it to absorb into the base) so forget that unless it's your only option and have a few hours to burn. Even then a hot wax is always superior. You want the fibers of the ski/board base to ABSORB the wax, not lay down an external layer. Which is why you always need to scrape and brush after waxing.
That said, this is ok for the price. There are other waxes out there(Maplus Rub-On alltemp)for a little bit more money that seem to have better performance(aka faster) and more fluorine but they also cost a few dollars more. Fluorine offers better glide properties in wet, slushy, and warm snow(typical here in Michigan). Do you need fluorine? No. It is just to increase your speed mostly for warm/wet conditions which also can help with control. A regular all paraffin wax(Dakine Nitrous) works fine for recreational skiers who are out just to cruise or you can try out the Indy Wax which has fluorine in it. However, if you race, fluorine is a must depending on conditions and is available in different concentrations that become expensive real fast($50/oz and up). In the end if you only go out a few times a year and don't race, this product will work perfect for you. You should be waxing every couple of days out on the slopes(4-5) but that can be tedious. This rub-on helps extend the time between hot waxes. Remember, nothing beats a few good hot waxes. This wax could also be used to put a light coating on the base to protect it in the summer but I would always recommend using a cheaper warm weather all paraffin wax if all you need is protection for the summer.Remember not to scrape the excess off until next season.

My review is based on never owning any other type of wax but I got this for a new snowboard and its about the size of a deodorant stick. Its hard wax that I use to rub down the board and buff it out with the little cork circle on the top of the lid. It makes the board smooth and smells wonderful.
